More about Delhi Bed and Breakfast
An Indian family Bollywood movie
by TripAdvisor Member AtticBat
Delhi B&B is a Bollywood movie. Pervez is the male lead - dashing, handsome, wry and humorous. He overcomes all obstacles to make his guests stay seamlessly pleasant. Lubna is the stunningly beautiful love interest, watching with wise amusement as Pervez dashes from one adventure to the next, Padma is the wise elder, worrying and giving sage advice everyone else ignores. During dance numbers, sons Sheiban and Shiezan join in with the silently efficient smiling staff. Guests of many nationalities join the dance number. The whole group dances through Delhi, past the elephants and sacred cows of Chandini Chowk and into another magically red Indian sunset.

Sometimes the best experiences in life do happen on a whim and with the instinct in your heart that tells you that a path feels inviting and safe and warm and rewarding!!!
Such is the indelible imprint Delhi Bed and Breakfast left with me!
Less than 48 hours before my flight was to depart for !ndia, I had not determined where I was going to stay.
This behavior is not like me when it comes to travel; especially to a place I'd never been before and even more so, because I was traveling alone. However, other circumstances were consuming more of my time than I realized; and here I was at 1am in my office trying to both begin the process of tying up loose ends at work and securing a place to stay in !ndia.
One website told me that New Delhi is the third most populated city in the world. Needless to say, there were many, many hotels and though cost was a significant factor in my decision, I also wanted an environment that was clean, safe, comfortable, modern and centrally located.
Though I take customers' comments on websites with a grain of salt, a very warm feeling came over me when I read about Delhi Bed and Breakfast and its' owners: Lubna and Pervez Hameed.
It was clear that they went out of their way to make their guests feel welcomed. It was equally clear that of primary importance to Pervez and Lubna was the hope that their guests had a wonderful visit to and around !ndia.
The national tourist slogan for the country is: Incredible !ndia.
If you've noticed, I've been spelling !ndia that way throughout this entire message.
And a large reason for that is the enormous grace and love Lubna and Pervez put into my stay! To be a guest in their home is to be treated with the highest level of dignity and respect.
I do not believe there can be any finer ambassadors than Lubna and Pervez for not just !ndia but for any country!
Through their diligent efforts, in the shortest of time, my level of comfort and joy placed me in a position to truly appreciate the enormous beauty of the great !ndia!
Though I've now plotted a course to visit every continent in the next seven years, I plan to return to !ndia in 2009, if not sooner, in large measure because of imprint Lubna and Pervez placed on my memories!
!ncredible they are!! And !ndia will forever more be spelled this way!!
calm and quiet in hectic Delhi

I have just returned from 3.5 weeks in India. I stayed with this family twice: for 6 days in the beginning and 3 days at the end of my journey, with Ladekh sandwiched in the middle.
Everything went smoothly from start to finish. Having someone meet you at the airport after 20 hours of travel is priceless.(and a good driver to return you to the airport). The driver was courteous and helpful. The family welcomed me into their home, and I was given a lovely room on the 1st floor. Everything worked perfectly, as it did during my second stay in the room on the ground floor. The air conditioning and shower were greatly appreciated after hot humid days of sightseeing and shopping.
Pervez was excellent with ideas for places to see, and where to go for everything from gorgeous 22 kt. gold jewellery to inexpensive souvenirs for friends. His drivers were always courteous, friendly and spoke decent English. Well worth the 1200 rs cost for 7 hours.
I never felt pressured to accept any of his advise. They have a maid who does a good massage in your room, and I loved the facial their "visiting" beautician did.Perhaps I may have gotten these cheaper on the outside, but the convenience of being in the house was worth it. (And the costs were much cheaper than I would pay at home so I had no problem with letting them handle paying these ladies and having it on my final bill.)
Overall, a wonderful stay with a kind and helpful family. Only "problem" was that you need to remind Pervez about certain requests. He was wonderful with getting medications delivered quickly and cheaply to the door for prevention of acute mountain sickness, but never got around to calling about a few others that I had requested. But overall, this was a very minour issue! He will admit to being "absent minded" with great humour and a winning smile. Again, not a big issue, and far outweighted by the positive aspects of staying with a knowledgeable and caring family. They appear to enjoy the worldwide guests, and sitting around the table and talking with everyone was another highlight. Try that in a hotel! It was like being a family member. I quickly felt "right at home" and it was great to come back after 2 weeks in the north. My suitcases that I left were safely waiting for me in my new room, and I was greeted at thge gate by a cheerful and smiling Ludma. Also, kudos to their two houseboys who tirelessly provide tea and biscuits to the guests, turn on the fan on the front porch, and help to serve meals.
Thanks again for a great stay, and I hope to return to Delhi early 2008 on the way to Kerala. Certainly, I shall be hoping to experience another wonderful stay at Delhi Bed and Breakfast.
A Place that warmed my spirit
by TripAdvisor Member kakenn
Based on the reviews I had read for this bed and breakfast on Trip Advisor, I booked 3 nights with Pervez and Lubna and was not dissapointed.
I think the magic of this place lies with the owners and their ability to make you feel welcome and at home. My recommendation is to have dinners each night and enjoy the conversation and benefit from Pervez' great advice on both Delhi and India in general.
I personally had my spirit lifted when i stayed here. Both pervez and lubna helped me so much, not only with my trip but they went the extra mile and helped me with my business (that Im starting). Their help and guidance was invaluable.
I left feeling a warmth from their hospitality and kindness and felt that I was leaving friends...not a hotel.
So well looked after
by TripAdvisor Member ukelaine
I stayed at the beginning of my trip and at the end. I was so well looked after and all my special needs were met ,and so much more. I was warmly welcomed and all my travel arrangements were made by Purvez with the greatest of ease. The room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated and furnished. The ac was excellent. The bed was very very comfortable, and I slept really well. The food was excellent and Lubna prepared my meals specially as I have to be carefull with my diet. I felt warmly welcomed into their home. I greatly enjoyed the conversations with the family and other guests. It was so friendly and I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay again. Delhi B+B is an oasis, of calm and comfort in Delhi.
A Delightful and Welcoming Oasis

We arrived in Delhi to find our luggage was still in London. It took some time to fill in all the paperwork and we were surprised to find our driver (pre-booked through Pervez) was still waiting for us - first tick in the box for service!
We stayed with Pervez and Lubna for just two nights but the warmth, service and hospitality was excellent. Their home is a peaceful haven with clean and comfortable rooms and Lubna's cooking was the best we had throughout our trip.
Pervez chased and finally retrieved our missing luggage whilst we set out to buy essentials and enjoy the sightseeing with a driver also arranged by Pervez. Lubna washed the clothes we had travelled in! It was like staying with family/friends.
Highs - evening meals - not to be missed! The food is great and the conversation is interesting and stimulating. The Hindu movie was also a lovely treat.
Lows - not enough time there.
A haven in the bustling city

Our trip to India in February ( the first, we hope,of many) would not have been as enjoyable and rewarding without the hospitality and fellowship we experienced at this wonderful B&B.
As we had a mere two weeks in India, Pervez's advice and assistance in organizing short trips with driver (Mr Shambu Ram -our guide and mentor!) was invaluable. Shambu tirelessly and patiently took us wherever we wanted to go,and when we ran out of ideas, he was never at a loss to suggest additional ones. He also kept an eagle eye on our welfare at all times!
It was then tremendously comforting to be welcomed 'home' by Shabma's gracious presence , with a delicious home-cooked meal (Lubna's cooking was some of the best we had in India) and the genuine concern that we had had a rewarding experience on the road.
That the Hameed's offer a wide range of excursions (shopping, touring) activities (cooking with Lubna!) and services to guests is a big plus. Prices were clearly stated, and there was no pressure. Rather, we felt that every effort was made to accommodate our interests. (Next time, we'll book a cooking lesson!)
We especially enjoyed the warm, relaxed atmosphere at the Hameed's - chatting with family and fellow guests at the dining table long after mealtimes, swapping news and travelling tips! Special thanks to the two lads who work for the family.
We wholeheartedly recommend New Delhi B&B, and look forward to our next stay.
Fantastic introduction to India
by TripAdvisor Member TonySG1
This has to be one of the best places I have stayed. We booked initially for our first and last nights in the Delhi area, at either end of a trip round Jaipur, Bharatpur and Agra.
We had a different room for each of our nights in Delhi - both very comfortably furnished and spotlessly clean. The highlight had to be the food - we'd never had Indian food like it. Completely wonderful.
It's also worth asking Pervez to quote for any tours you might want - his prices were very reasonable and the standard of accommodation was superb throughout. We stayed in safari tents with hot water bottles (!) and a tree full of monkeys, a suite with 3 balconys, a roof terrace and more peacocks than seemed feasible, and a small palace in Jaipur with a lovely and peaceful garden.
All in all, a memorable and excellent trip. Without Pervez and his family it would have been rather more expensive, much more hassle and nowhere near as good. Recommended.

More than we could have hoped for

Dear Pervez and Lubna,
We traveled to India for a medical procedure and wanted a place to stay that could offer more than a hotel. We got more. A beautiful room with our own private terrace. Food that was delectable. Best of all were our hosts, they went above and beyond in every way. I am one to enjoy my coffee in the morning so Pervez went out and purchased a kettle and coffee so I could enjoy my first cup in my room. Our whole stay we were made to feel comfortable and welcome. If you have a chance to stay at this establishment don't miss it. They will help organize any day trips wether it be sightseeing or shopping. We have made friends for a lifetime. Thank you both so much. We will be seeing you again.
