Google 'hotels delhi' to begin.

Lots of sites will come up and you can explore which hotel suits your budget/needs.

Then look at the Vt Delhi pages. You will find lots of information and tips all written by Vt locals and members. To find the pages, put 'Delhi' into the searchbox top right of this page.

Travel Tips for New Delhi

Lunch at the Main Bazaar Paharganj

by l_joo

The size of shops and restaurants here are so small for 6 tables or less. The one in this photo is a restaurant for sure, that's why I walk in to have my lunch. The reason I pick this one was because it has big menu with obvious price list on the wall. I sit down in a very compact environment full of aging paints and messy looking ceiling. My lunch is served in a big stainless steel plate with 5 compartments full of non-meat foods. The name of this meal is Thali, it cost 35 rupees each, very tasty. They wash plates on the floor beside the drain and if they wipe, they wipe with a piece of multi-purpose cloth for table, sweat, body, etc.

Indian bracelets or bangles

by l_joo about Indian bracelets or bangles

Don't forget to buy Indian bracelets or bangles, its very cheap in Paharganj area, you get the price like 20Rs of a whole bunch and 40Rs for another bunch. The woman in picture is waiting for customers, I bought some from her, its silver bracelets cost me 20Rs for five. She is in the middle of the Paharganj street, very easy to find her.

Kathi Rolls

by bashboo about Nizaams

If you are in connought place don't miss this fabulous one-stop kathi roll restaurant. the rolls are pretty greasy but they are absolutely delicious, tuck in to a double chicken single egg roll- that is what I ALWAYS have and it is yum yum yum!!! also dont be shy to ask to share a table with someone who you see has space on theirs, this is a fast food place. mentioned above, double chicken single egg.

Humayun's Tomb

by Nprawira

Humayun was the 2nd Mughal emperor and is buried in the Nizamuddin Complex along with his wives. The tomb is in perfect symmetry seen from all sides. There is a single pathway leading to the tomb enclosed within the outer walls that is lined with trees on both sides, making the journey a tranquil and comfortable one amidst the chaos outside. This is an appropriate precursor before visiting the granddaddy of all Indian tombs, the Taj Mahal, since the latter gained inspiration from the former.
