Try to give something to a community that needs it

While I was here, I went with members of the Embassy to Prayas Children's Home. There are homes for street children all across India, and they are very much needed, since there are a million children living on the streets here, forced into horrific abuse and exploitation. If you're here for any significant amount of time, see if there is any sort of project you can get involved with to help out. Perhaps the Embassy is organizing some sort of project somewhere that you can get involved in. This was, by far, my most memorable experience in India, and one I will certainly take with me for the rest of my life.

The British shifted the capital of India to New Delhi in 1911. The British architects Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker were commissioned to design the new capital. The construction began in 1911, it took nearly 20 years to build and the city was formally innaugrated in 1931.
India Gate is a majestic 43 metres high arch, built as a memorial to the 90,000 Indian soldiers killed in World War I. It is located at the eastern end of Rajpath, the venue of the annual parade held on 26th Januray, India's Republic Day. The names of the fallen soldiers are engraved on the stones.
The lawns around India Gate are the favoured picnic spot for Delhi families and the area tends to gets quite busy at night.
