Hotels in the Karol Bagh area

by zihuadeb

Hi,

I have finally narrowed down where I want to stay, and have decided on the Karol Bagh area after reading other posts. Female solo traveler.

Have been looking at so many hotels on VT I am having a hard time choosing. I am looking for a decent budget hotel with rooms that have a balcony, is this possible in KB? If no hotels with balconies then one with a roof top restaurant. Also would like airport pickup service included with room or surcharge.

Also would like to arrange trip to Jaipur and Agra through the hotel.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Deb

Karolbagh is a hub for budget hotels.Lots of options there.Airport pick up any hotel will get it done at Extra cost, you can also avail of the pre-paid taxi service at the Airport.

I stayed at the Clark international and would definitely recommend it. It had free wifi, airport pickup and although no balconiy it does have a rooftop bar. Definitely go for the Aiport pickup, there are very few street signs in that part of town so if your taxi driver isn't local will struggle to navigate. The hotel is also very close to the subway which in my opinion is also very safe for solo female travellers (although a bit of a scrum getting on and off the train!)

We paid Rs1000 per night for double room with breakfast, and we had free pick up from the airport. I had booked with another hotel which was recommended by another VT member, but 4 days before travel, I got e-mail that they overbooked my room, so I choose to look for an hotel by myself. I cross referenced all and come up with Ivory Place and that was BEST desiccation I have ever done. We really had great time and the owner was very helpful with some problems we occurred while booking onward journeys. I highly recommend this place.

Can I suggest you hire a car ith driver. If you do this independently of the hotel you will save yourself a lot of money because you will be chaarged at the standard rate not stamdard rate plus hotel creaming!

I can recommend Rajisthan By Car. Driver Mahavir. I used him this year. He is simply wonderful, reliable and also knowledgable. I guarentee you will not be disappointed by him. (his car is air con and all costs include road taxes and petrol). He will help you with accommodation and he will sort himself out so you need not worry about him.
He is on VT : http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/e0453/5d7/9/

Travel Tips for New Delhi

Monuments everywhere

by Rupanworld

While someone is visiting New Delhi, he/she should keep an eye around as Delhi is full of monuments from its glorious past. One comes across monuments on way to other monuments, some just lying beside the roads, unvisited, unknown. If you are curious, you might go in and see. Many of my tips have resulted from things that I just passed on my way and did not plan to visit and only later I came to know as I searched for those images on internet. This is very interesting. Here are pictures of some such monuments that I am still to know names of but which I crossed while on my way to someplace else. Amazing!!!

The Quwwatul-Islam Masjid (Might of Islam Mosque) mosque stands to the north east of the Qutub Minar and was built by Qutbbudin Aibak in AD 1198.

It is the earliest extant mosque in India. The remains of the mosque consist of a large courtyard, enclosed by cloisters, erected with carved columns and architectural members of 27 Hindu and Jain temples.
