With no idea on Indian hotel standards I booked Paul's Court at RatesToGo, as I normally find good last-minute rates at RTG. US$22 incl. breakfast & airport pick-up sounds like a good bargain...but not.
I arrived morning of August 8, 2006 at New Delhi airport and as promised by RTG, a driver with a placard of my name was there to pick me up and took me to the hotel. Arrived at the hotel after a long drive and I had this impression that there was an electricity blackout. Checked in the room but decided to call the travel agent to request for a hotel change. I did not last 3 hours at this hotel. There was electricity but the aircon is not working and the weather is really humid. There was no blanket and I could feel the dusts in the offwhite bedsheet. The pillows are really old and hard and smells like a million heads have slept there.
After a long flight I deserve some comfort and I don't think this hotel fits my requirement. So I transferred. The travel agent picked me up and took me to their office where I've waited for sometime, tired and getting some not-at-all-funny-jokes from the Manager (or asst. mgr. of Abyss Travel Agency), before I was taken by the same friendly and reliable driver who picked me up at the airport.
Pictures to be uploaded soon..........
