Lalith Hotel: Outstanding 5 star hotel

This is a 5 star hotel which is about 10-15 minutes walk from Connaught Place. It has all the mod cons: wifi, large marble bathroom etc. Breakfast is in keeping with its 5 star rating. It also has an excellent buffet dinner about US$30 per person.

Hotel Hindustan: A respite in a maze of hotels

Big spacious room, clean white sheets, pretty clean attached bathroom with hot water, stain free walls and no odor. I know it sounds negatively positive, but in the Pahar Ganj area with more hotels than birds, finding such a hotel is a delight. It is government approved. Bell boys are speedy. All this for Rs500 per person (if you want a receipt they might charge more). Can't beat that. There are rooms here that cost about Rs100 or more less, but they are repulsive and the hundred extra is very worth it.

Rooms have large windows but there isn't much of a view, so might as well get a room that does not face the street and have a peaceful sleep instead.

Hilton New Delhi Janakpuri: One of the better places in town

The Hilton is of course a legacy brand so one would expect top-quality service and accommodations. The room is very comfortable, the bathroom has a separate shower and tub which can be seen from the bed through a glass panel (but a curtain can be drawn down).

Buffet breakfast is great, with both Western and local dishes.

Pool, gym, wifi are present but I did not avail of them.

Overall, I would certainly recommend this place.

Hilton Garden Inn - DLF Place: Excellent service, great rooms !!!!!

The Hilton Garden Inn, New Delhi/ Saket is a paradise in a chaotic city ...located at the DLF shopping center, once you enter the hotel lobby your in peace and quiet. The rooms are large and nice with modern bathrooms. The service from everyone at the hotel was great and friendly ... no matter at what time of the day..... The front desk clerk made sure we had breakfast boxes set up for us, when we left the hotel at 5:00 am at no additional cost. If I was ever to come back I would come back to this hotel. Prices of rooms were a fair 7000 rupees. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Almondz Hotel: A New Hotel

This is a nice new clean hotel . It can be a little difficult to find so make sure the driver gives the reception a call for clear directions.
Coffee and tea in our room , TV with some English channels . No safe or hairdryer though.
The internet is 50 rps an hour and breakfast is included. We were leaving early the first day , and they packed us a boxed breakfast to go.

Its about 450 rps by metered taxi from the airport and about the same for a very early hotel transport to the train. Nice modern restaurant , good food but no bar license. They said they'll have it in April 2012.

Bridge View Tourist lodge.: Paharganj's convenient economy hotel.

Stayed in a "Single/attached bathe" room at "Bridge View Tourist lodge" located in the Backpackers accommodation locality of Delhi, Paharganj. This guesthouse is a few minutes walking distance from New Delhi railway station, very conveniently located. The rooms are shabbily maintained but taking the cost factor is tolerable for a few days of stay in one of the costly city's of India.

Very conveniently located in prime Paharganj locality with Delhi's main shopping area "Connought Place" within walking distance.

Hotel Vishal: Budget - Mixed experience

Large, but simple rooms, in Main Bazaar, Paharganj. Not so clean, there where many, many small insects on the bed when we arrived... But it's still a ok lodging at this price range in Main Bazaar. Remember to have your own padlock for the door!

The service was blend.
Ok-good fushion menu.

Shelton Hotel: Best budget+ accomodation in Paharganj?

We looked at many hotels and guest houses in Paharganj, we believe Shelton Hotel is one of the best option in this price range, Budget+, in this area.

In October 2008 and February 2009 we got a dobbelroom with AC and privat bathroom for 750 Rupee. The standard was basic, it was relatively clean, and had old taps in the bathroom. A very narrow and dirty balcony with view down on Main Bazaar.

The service was good, we got chai and coffee to our room at anytime. But they nagged us many times if we wanted beer. (This can be convenient if you want some beer, but it is not necessary to get this question all the time...)

Roof Top Restaurant with Nepali chef (in 2009) and posters of Nepal on the walls. And in a corner they had a small collection of Nepali goods for sale. Ok-good fushion/backpacker menu. If you're heading up to Nepal this can be your start to getting to like (and get tired of?...) Dal Bhat. It is a traditional Nepali staple food consisting of cooked or steamed rice or sometimes other cereal (bhat) and lentil soup (Dal). Like some sort of Thali.

Roof top restaurant with view of Main Bazaar. Nepali and Fushion/Backpacker menu. Not outstanding but good to know.

YMCA - New Delhi: Excellent Location and Services

Located on Janpath Road - just around the corner from Connaught Place - so easy walking to to all locations in central Delhi. Non AC suggested as these rooms come with a private balcony. Excellent services on campus including internet, currency exchange, and Rama Tours (rail, bus - private car etc.). Stay requires a transient membership - Rs60 fee. 'Modified American Plan' required - i.e. with 3 full meals daily. The breakfast is quite adequate - however the lunch and dinners are dreadful - non-vegetarian although you won't really notice as one can't tell the fish from the meat. I warn you about the dessert - was twice stricken.

The campus is clean and quite attractive. The advantage here is the location and that all drivers from the airport and train stations know exactly where it's located. The travel service in the lobby is excellent. If you're traveling about NW India and will be in/out of Delhi - they offer a 'left luggage' check for a very small fee.

Your preferred style: Private rented accomodation

Check out www.makaan.com. They provide a reputable service :)

I know for a fact they can arrange rentals if over 14 days. A friend used them.

Once you correspond with them, use the links from the website to access rival agents for rate comparisons. Always get other quotes.

Choose exact area using guidance from Google re amenities, neighbourhood, etc.

Good luck.

Sai villa b&b: New Delhi's excellent value accommodation

It is by share chance that i stumbled upon this b&b while looking for accommodations in desert of questionable options available in Delhi.

On my lookout for different hotels/b&b's i came across a b&b in Greater Kailash known as "Sai villa".

I like this b&b for the following reasons-

I have been told that Sai villa is going on making new themes for its rooms and these themes shall be in characteristics of- Rajathan, Tibet, China, Buddha, Eygpt, Bollywood. Theme based five designer rooms on ground floor with attached bathrooms, this themes are presently not completed yet but they are doing a fast job to complete it by Jan/Feb 2010.

2. I have also been told by the owner Ashutosh that they have completed a newly constructed special "ROOF TOP TERRACE" with 2500 sq. ft. open sunlight area and another 3000 sq.ft. covered area making total area 5000 sq. ft of penthouse type structure. It is a specially desinged roof top terrace to enjoy your dinks, bar-be-que, sun tan and it is developed on the theme of OLD delhi- "horse carrage", "tuk-tuk", "Indian style sitting", "village theme" on roof top for inhouse guests. It is been informed that this is a 1st time in India, that such a concept is brought out in any B&B of India. This roof top shall be opened for general public from 1st Feb, 2010. I was also informed that recently BBC Word covered this B&B also on their fast track programe.

3. Indian & western Breakfasts complementary, soft drinks, tea, coffee, juices etc., 24*7. They have two wonderful buttlers - Shaker and Lakshman.

4. I also liked the concept of sai villa providing Honda City car with driver "pradeep" to its room guest at fraction of the price what other accommodations charge in Delhi.

5. Believe it or not the price for a deluxe double room with breakfast and taxes is only Rs 2750 per night, which makes it the most amazing and exceptional value for money accommodation in Delhi.

Highly recommended b&b of South Delhi.

I think this is the Unique thing about this place- "ROOF TOP TERRACE" with 2500 sq. ft. open sunlight area and another 3000 sq.ft. covered area making total area 5000 sq. ft of penthouse type structure.
