Hotel near the airport?

by sash100

Hi, I'll be travelling to Kolkata. Most flights arrive in New Delhi in the middle of the night. The connecting flight to Kolkata is not until early morning. I'm wondering if anyone can give me tips if there are any hotel next to the airport or near the airport and the price range? Appreciate any tips. Thanks

If you have a connecting flight wihtin 24 hours of arrival you might try getting
a retiring room in the airport. You can't make a reservation though. Contact the
airport manager on arrival. There are hotels near the airport, but they are quite expensive (100.- USD +) and also not very good...

Delhi Metro - DMRC

by maneckk

Delhi Metro - A mode of transportation every delhite is proud of and guard it like a prized possesion. This network of underground, surface and overhead trains is the latest and the youngest addition to Delhi's public transport system. Right now there are 3 lines which are operational,
Red Line - Rithala to Shadhra intersects yellow line at Kashmere Gate (ISBT) Station
Yellow Line - Delhi University to Central Secretariat intersects red line at Kashmere Gate (ISBT) Station and Blue Line at Connaught Place (Rajiv Chowk) Station
Blue Line - Dwarka Sector 9 to I.P. Estate intersects Yellow line at Connaught Place (Rajiv Chowk) Station
The metro is being extended to the NCR towns of NOIDA and Gurgaon also and the work for them would be completed by 2010. Other parts of Delhi are also being linked via the metro and some would be completed by 2008.
The prices for each trip are mentioned at each station ticket counter and a token is given after the payment. The token can be used at the gates on a touch screen to enter and while exiting the token is taken in at a slot in the gate.
The stations are clean and very well maintained. There is metro police deployed at all stations and are always ready to help the tourists and first timers.
Car parking is available at all the major metro stations and some even have shopping malls and restaurants.

Lotus temple

by mantru

A Bahá'í House of Worship, sometimes referred to by its Arabic name of Mashriqu'l-Adhkár (Arabic: مشرق اﻻذكار), is the designation of a place of worship, or temple, of the Bahá'í Faith. The teachings of the religion envision Houses of Worship being surrounded by a number of dependencies dedicated to social, humanitarian, educational, and scientific pursuits, although none have yet been built to such an extent.

Only eight Houses of Worship have been built around the world, with a ninth under construction in Chile. Bahá'í communities own many properties where Houses of Worship remain to be constructed as the Bahá'í community grows and develops further. The Houses of Worship are open to the public, and are exclusively reserved for worship, where sermons are prohibited and only scriptural readings may be read.
