best deals in the times of recession
It was one of the best hotels in an economical budget. neat, clean. great food. Cafe coffee day in lobby makes it perfect. On line booking and promt service is worth a praise.
Looks good from outside, I went to see the rooms, since I am from Pondy, havent stayed there. Since there is no service, I feel its quite expensive for the price they offer. But that is the model of Ginger Hotels. They do have restaurant (Harbour Market, chain of restaurants owned by actor Mohanlal) and a coffe shop. Landmark book shop have a tiny store there, being a prominent book store @ Chennai & B'lore...I am not sure why they this tiny store for Pondy?

Myself and my wife drove down from Chennai on our way back to Bangalore after going for our visa interview at Chennai and I did the booking online.Once there we found the hotel conveniently located with ample parking. The room though a bit small was nice, clean and comfortable having all the basic amenities. The staff was very helpful and guided us when we asked them about places of tourist interest and restaurants .I had paid only about Rs: 1000=00 for a night and for that amount it was as good as free.Unfortunately we had only one night. Next time we wish to spend some more time and explore Pondicherry.
1.Really a nice hotel to stay.
2. The rooms are small but clean.
3. Mini fridge was really a great advantage in summer.
4. Restaurant needs improvement, bad food with limited options.
We went to Puducherry over the course of long weekend starting May 1st. Ginger is conveniently located about 1.5km from the Puducherry Promenade. State transport buses plying bewteen Chennai & Puducherry via ECR pass through the place. Almost all the toursist attractions in Puducherry are loacted close to Promenade or the Beach area. The interiors are very well done. There is an LCD TV and extremely clean & comfortable finishings. However, in terms of food only Buffet is avialable at all the three times. There is a cafe Coffeday couner as well as Landmark bookshop.Overall the experience was wonderful.
The booking was easy to do on the net. No problems on that.
The problems started on check in. The room was not very clean, there were leakages on the wall and stains on the bedsheet. I had to personally stand and get 3 bedsheets changed before I could get a stain free one.
The TV had only few channels.. reason, some issue with the provider.
Otherwise the stay was as promised -- no frills, no issues.
The restaurant is bare. Food is not great. You can find better food outside.
The hotel is good if you are travelling on business, and mostly need the room to have a shower and sleep.
Its a nice hotel....clean, self service, LCD TV, nice comfortable bed, working table & chair, cofee/tea maker with raw material, mini bar, wardrobe, A/C and what not..... and believe me at unbelievebale price of Rs.999 per night.......... I stayed their for 2 days(during 2 separate visits) in May 2009 and its a nice place.
It has a coffee Day downstairs and also they provide room service at no extra cost........ A nice resturant called 'The square meal' but no room service by them.......... Situated at aaround 4 KM from the Pondichery main bus stand takes around 10 minutes and Rs.50- Rs.60 in a auto rikshaw.....
Another great job by the TATA group........
We wanted to take a break from the daily routine and headed off to Pondicherry...made plans just a day before and we foundd this great place - 'Ginger' had heard about it as a value for money and it lives upto it completely. The room is just right for two people, everything one needs is in the room..nice aesthetic decor. Surprisingly the bathroom also scores great with a nice shower and doesnt feel crampy. The staff is courteous. The breakfast can be improved upon in terms of preparation. The hotel is a bit far from the limelight but hire a bike or something and it wont be a problem. Looking forward to go there again with few more people.
We reached Pondicherry towards the evening and the hotel that we booked online informed us that it was all packed and they had only a serviced apartment available. Thats when we searched for Ginger and got it. We got the room and it was very good. Though Ginger is known as a cheap hotel its the best in its class!!! and if you are thinking on to stay in any of other hotel on the same price tag...i suggest you choose Ginger. ..it gives good value for money with very hygienic rooms.
Was a nice property - very reasonably priced. The location of this place is mid of city and the Sand beaches on the city outskirts. This is also enroute the famous Aurovile ashram.
The presence of CCD also gives a nice look....
