Nakula Familiar Inn: The best budget accommodation in Denpasar!

I've stayed here many times and every single time I'm sorry to leave. This place makes Denpasar an excellent base for exploring Bali. If you're not into the Kuta scene and want to see what life is like in a real Balinese city, stay here, and go to the local markets, shopping centres and Puputan Square (there's always something going on). If you can handle it, get up 6am and walk down to the end of the street to Pasar Satria.
Unusually, breakfast isn't included, but the food is great and definitely safe from the dreaded 'Bali Belly'.

Checkout the family temple while you're there.

Santika Hotel

One of the decent hotel within Kota area. If you wanna stay in Kota area for couple of nights -this hotel is the best. The cost is around $75 - $80 per night during off peak season. Hotels in Bali are usually adding around $40 during peak season.

Hotel Hapel Semer: One of Bali's Cheapest Hotels

I arrived at Hotel Hapel Semer on a stormy and cold night. Hotel Hapel Semer is a small and simple hotel that has a small swimming pool, an al fresco dining area, mini bar, hot and cold running water, telephone and Balinese statues. The king-size standard room that I paid at SGD23.00 is very small but cosy. One footstep is enough to open the door. Guests can watch one Indonesian TV channel programs. Toiletries are provided.

Hotel Hapel Semer is about 30 to 35 minutes of taxi journey from Ngurah Rai International Airport, Denpasar, depending on traffic conditions. It is a 20 minutes drive by taxi from the bemo station of Bali.

I recommend backpackers to choose Hotel Hapel Semer for a non-disturbing stay in Bali.

Reservations can be done via Kaha Tours & Travels at Jl. Cokroaminoto No. 175, Ubung Denpasar. Tel: 62-361-438100. Mobile: 62-81-23902803. Or at Cengkareng Terminal 1B upon arrival for check-in at Batavia Air counter. call 62-21-55911036, 55911037. In Hang Nadim Airport Batam Centre, call 62-778-468138-139. Fax: 468-139.

Peaceful environment. No harrassment. Security level is high.

Ramayana Resort And Spa: Close to the airport.

Being a transient traveller in Bali (1 or 2 nights stop over) and I usually stay in Ramanaya Resort and Spa. Very close to the airport - 15 mins away. Kota Square is just a few walk.

Free breaksfast is very decent. Good value of the money.

Nakula Familiar Inn: Cosy little nest

Tucked at the end of Jl Nakula, the inn named after the road, is a cosy little place. The entrance is not that impressive but once you stepped inside it, there is a difference ... the inn's vicinity is surrounded with greens and the lodge is well kept. Big clean room ( a big double bed) with fan is 80,000Rp which we think is cheap in the city of Denpasar. Only cold water is provided but it is fine because we walked alot and we have no use of the hot water anyway.

- good, clean surroundings
- walkable distance to places of interests
- "personal touch" - inn operator Mr Sunu will give you a map of Denpasar and show you how to go about visiting the places of interest in Denpasar and how to get onto "bemos"
