PICTURE: Melia Bali, Nusa Dua!...
PICTURE: Melia Bali, Nusa Dua! We stayed at the Melia Bali Resort in Nusa Dua. This is the most expensive part of Bali, but also the safest and nices when in comes to beaches. I mean, beaches as far as swimming goes, beacuse a lot of poeple come down for surfing and this is not where you would do it....
Anyhow, the hotels down Nusa Dua beach would be Melia, Hyatt, Hilton, and such (but very affordable...about $100.00 USD per night in a Hilton).
You can stay a little further from the beach (in a nice hotel) for around $30-$40 USD,and if you go up to Kuta which is about 1hr away, you can lodge for as low as $5-$10 USD including breakfast.
Accommodation is very cheap! You will find that a lot of Europeans come here for 3-4-5 weeks...:) I wish I could:(

Troppo Zone Hotel: Troppo Zone Hotel
I paid $35AUS/night for a room with 2 single beds in it
Troppozone is a hotel catering for people 18-35s, mainly Aussies stay here. Travelling on my own I thought this would be a good idea and a good way to meet people and my accomodation was included as part of my holiday package. In a way Troppozone was a bit like a Contiki hotel – skulling competitions, a bit of sleaze etc! Not really my scene but you have the choice to participate or not and I must admit it was a good choice considering I was in Bali on my own. It is a very social place and easy to meet people. delicious breakfasts in the morning. It is probably about 15 years old.

Artini's Cottage 2: Kept secret of Ubud
The first time I went to Ubud, I stayed in a place called Artini's Cottage 2. It's a lovely place built right next to a padi field. It is quiet place, has a nice pool, allows you enough privacy and the price is very reasonable. All the bungalows are set in a beautifully landscaped garden setting, with small statues dotting the passageways.
A double room with fan and hot/cold bath, including breakfast and all taxes, costs US$26/night. It's open for negotiation if you intend to stay longer than 1-2 nights! Most accomodation rates in Bali can be bargained for a longer term stay. However, not all will accept credit cards.
Very lush and quiet surrounding, but a lot of the nice cottages are like that in Ubud! Although those that are located in the Ubud center could be noisier.
