Great Luxury Resort in Nusa Dua
Decided on booking our stay with Melia Bali as they had received positive comments and feedback from guests. Our booking was done through Asiarooms.com (no payment required, payment was made only during check-out. Credit card information was only used to secure the booking) and we booked a Garden View Duplex Suite at USD200 per night.
Our room was big (two levels) and clean, with the living and dining area located on the lower level, and the bed was on level 2. The room has 2 toilets, 2 flat-screen TVs and a terrace (plus safe, wardrobe, coffee and tea-making amenities etc). The room overlooks the garden and greenery.
Service was attentive and prompt at this resort.
Our stay comes with complimentary breakfast, and the breakfast selection was great! Lots of variety available.
Unique Quality: The bright, airy and clean room was very nice, and we appreciated the space. For the price we paid for this duplex suite, we thought that it was value-for-money.
The pool, private beach, spa etc were also great. We liked the landscaping too - lots of water features and greenery, we even saw lots of birds and wild squirrels on the trees!
Melia Bali won the "Best Hotel Award" in Bali for 2009.

Rooms at Melia Bali
Unique Quality: The rooms at Melia Bali resort are decorated in a very traditional Balinese style. If you want privacy, you can get a villa with your own pool, where daily breakfast is served on your own terrace.
Each room in the main buildings has a balcony or a terrace (on the ground floor) which opens into the beautiful gardens. All rooms have a safe.
I though it was a lovely touch when a maid left an orchid on the bed every time she cleaned the room, which was daily.

Melia Bali grounds
I know I have already given a description of the Melia Bali hotel, but wanted to put a few more pictures of the beautiful grounds of the hotel.
You can walk around the hotel just admiring the flowers and decorations. You really feel like you woke up in paradise!

Little piece of paradise
What an amazing resort! It is located in Nusa Dua, which is a small village isolated from the rest of the cities.
The service was amazing, rooms decorated in traditional Balinese style, always clean and fresh. There are 4 restaurants, a coffee shop, and 5 bars. Almost every night, there was a new show at the Bali Boulevard.
The grounds are beautiful, with lots of plants, trees, and flowers. There is a very big pool, and a great spa.
The resort is right on the Indian Ocean, and offers breathtaking views.
Unique Quality: The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff. It's location by the Indian Ocean allows for many water activities, swimming and simply great views.
The spa at the resort is open all day, and they have a big variety of different treatments and massages for very reasonable rates (much cheaper than in the US).
There is nightly entertainment, buffet dinners with a traditional Balinese dance show about twice a week. The hotel staff can help you organize trips to different cities or sightseeing tours.
Overall, we had an amazing experience at Melia Bali, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves nice resorts.

Your average tourist resort, Nusa Dua
Stayed here on a Singapore Airlines package in February 2003. It was empty then, so i am sure it's very different now. It is quite a large resort, with adequate rooms. Many different restaurants with one buffet that has nice live music. They do requests. Ask them to do the Kechuk song. Nice big lagoon style pool. The beach is so so. I wasn't very impressed with the beach at Nusa Dua. Have a very nice spa.

Just has to be!!!!
This ranks with me as being one of the most friendly, serene hotels I have had the pleasure of staying in during my travels. After my first visit, its ambience captured my heart and I wrote my feelings down, hopefully this extract will give you a taste of what to expect.
The car slows down and comes to a halt and the door is opened by a handsome young man with big brown smiling eyes and dressed in a colourful sarong and crisp white shirt, “Selemat Detang” I hear as the large brass gong is sounded to announce my arrival. I am here, back at the Melia Bali Villa and Spa resort, a serene and sensuous paradise retreat with its handmade hospitality and sheer ambience.
I walk slowly along a polished wooden bridge into a vast open reception area with its bamboo suites, unusual stone artefacts and culturally decorative ceiling, breathing in the peaceful atmosphere I look around and see friendly familiar faces of the staff as they wave and greet me with genuine affection and smiles.
I am now standing on the balcony of my third floor room, Balinese craftsmanship evident throughout, my senses aroused by an abundance of sweet lingering aroma of frangipani and hibiscus wafting in from the grounds below me. Looking down into the velvet softness of the lush tropical gardens of coconut and banana palms, badung, matoa and papua trees, I see plantain squirrels scurrying across the leaves and branches looking for their daily feed. Chirping song from colourful birds add to the feeling of peacefulness and pure intimacy with nature. Gleeful sounds of happiness drift up from the lagoon style pool barely visible through the thickness of the flora and fauna.
A little long winded I know and maybe other people would percieve things differently but I count the days before I can return.
Unique Quality: Beautiful tropical gardens set in 40 acres.
Largest lagoon style pool in the area.
Private beach, which like most places has its fair share of hawkers but they are restricted to the waters edge and wont approach you unless you invite them.
warm,friendly staff
daily activities to keep you amused and entertained all day.
choice of resturants and bars, yes this is five star but the prices are reasonable.
