i think seminyak is the great place if you want to relaks, if you prefer to stay for along day, you can set the days tour, its great View in Ubud you can rent a bike there and explore the rice paddies in the morning, you will feel really fresh there, but if you want to stay in seminyak and feel the rice paddies too, try Bali prime villa, it is a good place to stay for honeymoon holiday etc. but it depend on you, i had book bali prime villa before with http://thebalivilla.net. they have great service and i'm enjoy it

if you want to have your breakfast, lunch, or dinner with the best view to the ocean, visit atmosphere.
the restaurant is quite big but the best place is on daybed which is on the upper floor. there are only 3-4 daybeds so during busy hours usually it's hard to get this place.

Shop...shop...shop...

There are many street shopping area...just like the one in the photos. There's one very near to Kuta beach...all along Legian road...n also a few places more towards Tuban. What you'll find here? Paintings, home decor items, handwoven baskets, clothes, sarong, souvenirs, wood carvings, accessories for the ladies, immitation handbags and etc.

"Beaches are okay...."

I'm a real beach snob. Heck, I lived in Hawaii and have a preference for all things tropical. On a scale of 1 - 10... I rate the Beach Environment (taking into consideration sand, water, view, volume/quality of people, coral life, etc.) a 6.

Now it's true certain parts of Bali have better beaches than others, but overall, it's merely an above average rating.

Again, pls note the islands I have visited. You'll understand why I'm so discriminating...

That aside, Bali IS a Surfer's paradise and apparently there is a more than decent scuba scene - - although not to the caliber of micronesia and Australian coast...

Still, Bali Beaches have their moments. Here are but a few beach jpgs I collected while there.

Oh, I can't swim in the water. I have super sensitivity to polluted water: my skin starts to BURN. Both times, both trips (11 years apart!) I entered the water, I got the burn / tingling sensations. I had to get out. Bummers!

You can rent surfboards and learn to surf. It's not too bad in Kuta... but you'd want some experience if you surfed in Ulu Watu
