Beautiful pool, friendly faces
My mom and I loved our stay at the Vira Bali. I was there for 17 days and she was there for 12. Almost every day we walked down to the Discovery Mall/Waterbom vicinity, making a few odd trips away from the area (actually, quite often to the Bali Deli -- we love grocery shopping together!) I was on leave from a deployment, so I was very excited to find a full bathtub in my room since we don't quite have those over there. The shower was nice and powerful too.
The breakfast buffet was generous, and very luckily for me, it stayed open until 10 (maybe 11, it's been more than a month now). I'm not at all a morning person and usually miss out on breakfast buffets, but I didn't miss this one!
The spa was relaxing; I got a body scrub/massage/aromatherapy package the first day, and it erased every kink in my muscles from the nearly 3 days of travelling to get there, and the traditional music playing in the background was hypnotizing. The pedicure wasn't the best of what I've had, and it would be great if they had more nail polish colors. But the treatments were reasonably priced and I'm still trying to recreate the tea they gave me before a massage.
The staff was very friendly. One or two times they didn't quite get what I was asking for, but overall, it felt like home (although without snow!). I missed breakfast two mornings, and when I went back they asked if I was okay.
I had the long-stay package, which gave me discounts on laundry service and in the restaurant and spa, and an upgrade to the deluxe room for $72 US per night.
The only problems I had were with the lunch/dinner food offerings, which weren't that great; I had really great pancakes my first day but they weren't ever the same after that, and I had a spa appointment cancelled accidentally my first full day. Aside from that, I would stay there again and again. Oh, and to get a pool towel you have to go to the front desk, and then to get to the pool quickest you have to go through the restaurant from there... that was a little odd.
But overall, very nice stay.
Unique Quality: This may be very unique: I have to commend the laundry service. My first full day in Bali I went to get an airbrush tan so I wouldn't be so tempted to stay in the sun too long. Well, that night it rained and I sweated while dancing at the Hard Rock. My "tan" melted all over my white sundress (I know, not the smartest choice). But when it came back from the laundry, every speck of color was gone.
And the pool was gorgeous. They could use a little more room for the lawn chairs, and maybe a few more tables or stands to put drinks/food on, but aside from that, the pool and the greenery around it were very pretty.
