North coast of Bali

by maria04

We are planning a holiday to Bali, but would like somewhere relaxing. We thought of around Lovina, but have read that the sea is quite polluted in places there. As we both love swimming, can any one advise if this is true or reccommend another part of the island which would suit. We intend to rent a cottage/villa when we arrive there.

Hi Maria,

I believe Nusa Dua is one of the beaches you can go for a swim. Most of the five star hotels there offer a somewhat private beach i.e. limited to the hotel guests unlike Kuta area. Have a pleasant stay in Bali :)

Travel Tips for Singaraja

Watch the birds

by kyoub

While sitting on the porch of our suite we watched the birds.
There was a white headed Munia that was going over to a thatched roof above the entranceway and pulling out pieces to take to the tree where he was building a nest.
This went on all day for several days.
Sometimes he would make it to the nest with them and sometimes he would drop them before he got there. He was very busy.

Escaping place could be extremely quite!

"The Sleeping Beauty"

Lovina seems to be another option to get away from all the crowed in Kuta. Somehow, Lovina gives another atmosphere from Bali. Driving along the north-east of Bali seems to be away from Green Bali, where almost everywhere in south of Bali is green with the rice-terrace.

Despite of all, Lovina offers a lot more than the loneliness. The Beaches are nice though it is black sandy beaches. Look a bit more dirty, but thewater is clear. Snorkelling is good. Watching dolphin in early morn will give another entertainment.

So... enjoying Lovina and trying not to feel lonely would be the best to escape this sleeping beauty place.

the old capital of bali

"Singaraja"

the town today is nothing much buch a commercial centre in the north. of course, you could still witness the many ceremonies that balinese go through every day. the place to go to is another place with nothing much to do except...

"Lovina Beach for grey dolphins"

to watch the dolphins on their early morning hunt. for a very reasonable price, you can hire a fishing boat and set out to sea at about 6am and hope for sightings of the pack of dolphins as they surface to take in fresh air before going down again to have their meal of the day.

basically, you are taken on a whirlwind trip around the bay of lovina on an empty stomach and then head back to shore for a hearty breakfast at 8am!
