Travel Tips for Tabanan
It’s all in Black & White
by balisunshine
As you drive around Bali,
you will see very old trees dressed
with a black & white checkered skirt.
Usually, these trees are very sacred
and a place of worship
will be set up at the base of the trunk.
The black and white checkered poleng cloth
symbolizes good and evil forces in balance.
What to bring to Balian
by balisunshine
Because of it’s quiet village life,
it may be wise to bring
some provisions when visiting Balian.
Having a car or a motorbike will allow you to explore the area.
Books, reading materials, DVD’s, CDs
if you seek to have some sort of entertainment.
Special snacks you might like,
any medications that may be needed, liquor.
Cash money would be wise too,
since the nearest ATM is located in Tabanan.
Don’t rely too much on the local shops to have all that you need.
Surfing in and around Balian
by balisunshine
Balian is good for surfers,
people who like a quiet existence,
and people who would enjoy an interaction
that is more in tune with a Balinese village,
than a shopping mall.
The best time to go to Balian
is during the dry season,
which is April-October.
The currents are strong so don’t swim by yourself
without telling anyone where you are going.
Another near by surf spot is, Medewi in west Bali.
Temple in the forest
by kyoub
On the slopes of Gunung Batukau, is Pura Luhur Batukau. The mountain is very important to the Balinese because it is the source of irrigation water to the south and west of it.The temple is a very important temple because it is next to the highest temple on the western part of Bali. The forest and green moss are the decorations for this important temple.

"Pura Tanah Lot."
Tabanan is a district of west Bali that comprises two regions the mountains and the lower plains. Tabanan is not a touristic town but is famous for it´s temple by the sea, "Pura Tanah Lot" wich means earth and sea. Maybe is Bali´s most visited temple, and is specially crowded during the sunset.
