Charming small hotel

I really loved the Alam Jiwa! It's situated in the quiet village of Nyuhkuning, next to Ubud, some 15 minute walk from the center. Though it's not in the center of Ubud, they have a shuttle that drops you in the center and when you want to return to the hotel, you just call them to pick you up.

It's a kind of a family hotel, with only a few rooms and a very friendly and personal service.
The rooms are gorgeous, very balinese style and all of them have rice field views, though the more expensive have better views. I stayed in one of those, the Merpati room, which had fabulous views to the rice fields. The balcony was very large, with a table and chairs to have meals or breakfast ( which is so, so good and served in the room) and a large lounge chair.

The bathroom was huge , with an open air shower. If you want to have any meal in your
room they have a menu available from the Cafe Wayan, which belongs to the same owners. The food is really good!

There is a small pool and their service is the best, we became good friends with the people who worked there and had long talks with them.
Highly recommended!

More about Alam Jiwa

Great food in a beautiful setting

by tere1 about Cafe Wayan

The Cafe Wayan is a really beautiful restaurant, with a bakery in front, in a wonderful tropical setting, with amazing gardens. It's situated in the center of Ubud, in the Monkey Forest Road. It belongs to the same owners of the Alam Indah and Alam Jiwa hotels.

The food is truly delicious, many indonesian dishes and western dishes and a chocolate cake to die for! On sundays you can enjoy a delicious Balinese buffet.
I went there twice and always had great meals. Dishes are also very well presented. Highly recommended! Everything here is delicious but , as I am a sweets lover, the " death by chocolate cake" is a must!
