Invisible to the naked eye
by Tijavi
The topography of Ubud and the surrounding villages is blessed with scenic paddies, grassy hills, and gushing streams. You could marvel at all these if you take a walk (or a bicycle tour) around Ubud and these surrounding villages.
And keep an eye for surprises along the way - like naked (and/or semi-naked) men and women bathing in the streams and ponds. Yes, NAKED (and/or SEMI-NAKED) MEN AND WOMEN!
And why not? As tradition has it, the Balinese believe that they are invisible when bathing.
Just be sensitive to this local custom and please respect them - AVOID TAKING SNAPS OF THEM BATHING IN THE NUDE!
Pretty gardens
by kyoub
Another nice place a few miles out of Ubud is to the Bali Botanical Gardens.
They are on the slopes of Gunung Pohen.
You can take a nice hike around to look at the flowers and trees or you can drive around on the paved road.
There are some very unusual statues in the gardens. An interesting stop if you are around Bedugul
Great lunch
by kyoub about Sababa
We were walking around in down town Ubud one morning and I saw this sign sitting on the sidewalk that said SABABA far fetched food. Falafel, hummus, kababs, and ect served with pita bread.
Suddenly I was starving, finally some food that I could relate to. It was super and we returned several times to have lunch the week that we were there in Ubud.

Crying baby statue
by kenyneo
I saw this in VT Goldenboy's page previously but we accidentally chanced upon it on our way to some Ubud art gallery .
The statue is quite huge and sits on aroundabout. People said that the statue was erected after villagers heard the sound of crying baby. Perhaps a spirit of a baby. But its stops after the statue was built.
You can see people offering flowers etc near the statue. Something off the beaten path actually becoz my tourguide didnt even mention it when we passed .
