Hello
Taxi from the airport (or from just outside airport) to Ubud cost around 300,000rp one way, (around 26 US$) at the moment so it depends on what the hotel is thinking of charging you for their transport as to if it is cheaper to do that.

Hi,

I've done the trip several times and the best price I can get with a taxi is around 200,000 rupiah (approx 20usd). I know a very reliable driver who speaks good English. Let me know if I can help you any further.

There is a bus you can take but thereare limited hours. I met a Thai traveller who paid 6$ for it.

Travel Tips for Ubud

our middle name is ... 'transport'

by ukirsari

i can not help but smile everytime remember about greetings from local that we've got while staying in ubud. first, a smile and continue with "transport?!!" of course we do understand very well, these were drivers who offer us a trip and transportation. but sometimes we like to make jokes like, "no, no, no .. we are @rie and nick, bukan [not] transport." yes, they're very friendly :)

Walking to Ubud

by kyoub

If you are staying at Klub Kokos, like we did, you must hire a taxi to take you to Ubud by way of the gravel road or you can walk.
There is a dirt walking path that will take you into Ubud's bustling commercial centre. Traffic is virtually non-existent in this beautifully tranquil rural setting. It is 1.5 km by taking the path. It goes beside some rice paddies, lovely Inns, the river, and other suprises on the way.

Another great restaurant

by aussiejen about Cinta Bar & Grill

This is a delightful place to have a meal. We wandered in mid afternoon after a bit of a shopping splurge over the road. Hadn't had lunch but as we weren't too hungry we just had a snack. Fully intended to go back in the evening but never quite made it!
My rice paper rolls were the best I've ever had, and I've had a lot!

Homecooked meals - reasonably priced

by myspices about Warung Local

It's a small outlet that serves local dishes and chinese dishes. All prices are stated in the menu. They also dish out quick fries like fried rice and noodle soup. We had our dinner here - we ordered 3 dishes which are quite delicious Sweet sour chicken
Fried egg
Vegetables
- served with rice

Total costs with drinks : 30,000Rp

Kecak Dance

by black_mimi99

First, there is no musical accompaniment. The gamelan is not there. Rhythm is provided by a chanting 'monkey' chorus. The polyrhythmic sound of the chanting provides the name,
'Ke-chak'.

The story line for the Kecak is taken from the Ramayana.
Prince Rama goes hunting for a golden deer and his beautiful wife is kidnapped by the evil Rawana.
Story is secondary in this performance, though. If you want to see the story of the Ramayana, you should see a Ramayana performance.
The Kecak is a triumph of style and mood, rather than story. Watch the faces of audience members. More than any other Balinese dance, the Kecak turns every viewer into a child, wide-eyed and transfixed.
