Lovely Pool Area

I've stayed at Green Field twice - once in their Bale Bunga (USD$28) rooms and once in their Bale Sukat (USD$55) rooms. The Bale Bunga room was a basic room, located further away from receprion, which meant it was a nice little walk "around" the property. My room was upstairs, but had a balcony with table and chairs. The shower consisted of one of those hoses attached to the wall. the Bale Sukat rooms are located next to the pool. That room had a combination shower/bathtub, but not a conventional Westernized one. My room was housed in a traditional bungalow with a lovely view of the rice fields. Breakfast is included in the rate and is served in a bteakfast pavilion, where you can meet other guests. I found the pool area to be very nice & comfortable; loved staying in the Bale Sukat room and walking to the pool directly next to it. There is a small art gallery on-site, usually manned by Mr. Bawa. His English is limited, but the paintings are quite nice. The staff at Green Field are wonderful and very accommodating in every way.

Unique Quality: Since Green Field is situated on the edge of Ubud, they offer a free shuttle to the center of town. They will also pick you up from central Ubud and drive you back to the hotel prior to 10:00 p.m.

Hello :-)

Could anyone out there advise me for the following resorts, having difficulties to make decision;

1)Alila (Superior / Duluxe room)
2)Arma (Superior villa)
3)Tjampuhan Spa (Agung/Raja room)
4)Ubud Village Hotel

Price is a factor to be considered but still comfort and luxury is playing in my head....not to forget the distance to Ubud town.

TQ & cheeeerrrssss :-)

Given your list, for location you can't beat Ubud Village Hotel. It's right on Jalan Monkey Forest in central Ubud. It's also a great value and it is more than very comfortable.

Travel Tips for Ubud

Amandari Paradise

by platypusak

We were only in Ubud for two days and one night, but found a bit of paradise at our wonderful hotel. I've never felt so pampered in my life. Our pavilion room was simply gorgeous. We were offered a cool drink as soon as we arrived, the stereo was playing balinese music, the marble floor were cool to our feet, and the room was incredible. We could have stayed forever. Dinner at the Amandari resturant was u nforgettable. The open air resturant overlooked the hotel's infinity pool. A three piece balinese orchestra played as we were served a sumptuous dinner. The most romantic place we have ever been.

Thousands of Cranes

by platypusak

In a village near Ubud, thousands of crannes arrive at sunset and roost in the trees. We were the only "visitors" there on the evening we went. Children take a small entry fee-a dollar will do-and keep track of where people have teaveled from....the the birds arrive...huge and by the hundreds...fantastic! Any hotel in Ubud could arrange for a car...unfortunately we never learned the name of the village, but all the staff at our hotel knew about it.

Sexy presentation, awesome taste!

by bali_junkie about Drops Restaurant

The restaurant is attached to Casa Suites Hotel in Legian Street. I love the relaxed ambience, helpful staff, great presentation, above average taste and reasonable price. Good combination to keep coming back trying out different dishes during our stay there.

Babi Guling

by SFHulaGIrl about Ibu Oka

Ibu Oka is world renowned for their suckling pig. Apparently, they prepare an average of 4 suckling pigs per day. When they're gone, they close up shop for the remainder of the day. In this ultra casual restaurant, everyone sits at long, low tables. I ordered the "Special" which included a plate of roast pork, pork skin, a blood (?) sausage, vegetables & other things which I didn't recognize (or venture to eat), along with a beverage (30,000 rp). The suckling pig was truly tasty!

Arts, handy-crafts

by Kriesta

If u're into antique wooden masks, or any authentic sculptures for a very cheap price, Ubud is where u need to go. Masks came from East Timor, Irian Jaya or Borneo etc and aged 20-30 years are easily to find here. And if u bargain, they willing to sell it to u if the price is right. From the pic, my bf bought the big tall mask for 400,000 rupiah...not a bad deal hey. Well, makes my bf a happy man and added another mask to his collection :)
