Best Resort in Ubud, if Not in All of Bali

We are fortunate in that our home is only a short walk from the Royal Pita Maha Resort. We know this resort very well, and we have booked this extraordinary resort for many guests coming to visit us in Ubud. One such friend, a prominent attorney in California came last February for one week and is coming again the end of this month for another week. In addition, many of the staff of the Royal Pita Maha live in our village, and we know them well.

All the facilities, the dining, the rooms, the grounds are impeccable and most guests agree that they feel like the whole place is totally their own. The Royal Pita Maha has my personal highest recommendation.

Unique Quality: This resort embodies all that is Bali. It is indescribably beautiful and its grounds are lavish and exotic. It is a sprawling resort built upon land that is held as very spiritual and powerful by the local villagers, right along the sacred Ayung River. The grounds along the Ayung River are particularly breathtaking and there are two fresh mineral water pools in which one can bathe, although the Balinese regard this water as holy water.

The rooms, in particular the three room pool suites, are totally private, very inviting, quiet and peaceful with the only sounds being the birds and the roaring flow of the sacred Ayung. This resort defines the words romantic, tranquil, exotic and lavish. For the price, this fine resort and its sister spa, the Kirana Spa, are top in Bali in my opinion.

Tip: If you don't mind a bit of an uphill hike to the main lobby area, take a suite on the Ayung River level. Bring some good books, but be warned...your family may never see you again, as that is one very hard place to leave!

A piece of Paradise

Pita Maha is made up of individual villas, each surrounded by a high wall.
I stayed in the garden villa, some other villas have a private pool too.

Very clean rooms, with everything you need in a hotel including your own coffee machine and both an indoor and an outdoor daybeds. To me, it was a pity that the queen sized bed was made up of 2 twin mattreses rather than 1 entire mattress.

I woke up to the the views of the rice terraces in the distance and the sight of squirrels chasing each other on the trees.

Other than one of the reception staff/manager? who was the only let-down. He was uninformed and unhelpful. the rest of the service was impeccable.

Unique Quality: The outdoor marble bath and showers.
The infinity pool.
The breakfast served at the restaurant was tasty. The fried noodles (mie goreng) was memorable.

Quiet as another world

independent room and swimming pool. For 4 persons (2 twin rooms), the swimming pool is very big.
You can see the mountains and sunrise in the public swimming pool if you get up early. :)

Unique Quality: If you want to try SPA, please remember to make a reservation when you book the room.
