Beautiful villas and pool, great staff & location!

Our family stayed at Villa Sonia for 9 nights from the 30th November. It was a great experience and we loved every minute of it and we were sad to leave. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is sparkling clean, they have a great little kids pool as well! Our room was always neat and made up and refreshed every day. Fresh and clean towels were provided daily also. The smell of frangipani woke us up every morning and we would eat our generous breakfast by the pool every morning. It was a great stay and even better for us as we had the whole place to ourselves for 7 nights before the other guests for Christmas checked in. We made friends with all the staff, very helpful and caring people and we went on some good tours as well, our driver and friend Ketut was alway helpful, safe and cautious on the roads, the car was clean and cool with aircon. We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Sonia in December 2011 and it will be a great memory for us, we took alot of pictures.

The other fantastic thing about Villa Sonia is the location, it is on the other side of Ubud just down from the Monkey Forest. We rode through the Monkey Forest every day and the kids loved it. At night it is extremely peaceful and quiet, you would not think we were only a 3 minute scooter ride to the heart of busy Ubud. We are so glad we did our research and stayed at Nyuh Kuning as it is much quieter and peaceful than crazy but good Ubud.

One more thing, don't listen to the negative reviewer here, there is nothing to complain about, everything was perfect, they probably did'nt like the occasional gecko on their wall and had a good cry about it! Villa Sonia was a fantastic experience for us all and will be remembered always!

Unique Quality: Great staff, perfect location, beautiful gardens and facilities, rooms were very spacious and good with reliable hot water, everything was just fine!

Sweet and romantic hotel in Ubud

We spent 5 days in Villa Sonia and can do nothing but warmly recommend it!
We really enjoyed our lovely room with outside shower and the delicious Balinese breakfasts taken on our porch.

The villas are spacious and clean, in a lovely garden with private swimming pool and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

A short walk through the monkey forest and you are in the center of Ubud! Simply perfect!

Lovely hotel near Ubud centre

We had a 2 nights stay last week in Villa Sonia and it was marvellous. Nice, clean rooms, big terras/balcony. After a 5 to 10 minute walk through Monkey Forest you will enter the centre of Ubud with lots of shops, massage centres, restaurants, bars etc.
Villa Sonia has a very friendly staff, all speaking English and a Dutch manager; they all will do their utmost to make your stay as comfortable possible.

Unique Quality: Free WiFi;
you can also use the pc in the reception to check-in for your flight en print your boarding passes;
free taxi pickup at night from Ubud

Our favorite place in Ubud

Two years ago I was in Ubud with my partner for 4 days in Villa Sonia. Romantic, quiet and next to the center of Ubud. We loved our stay there, but unfortunately it was the end of our trip and had to fly back. The employees over there were so nice that we stayed in touch by Facebook.
This year, with a baby of 11 months, we went back to Villa Sonia for a week and we even enjoyed it more than the first time! The villa's are spacious, clean, perfect airconditioning and with a lot of privacy. The babybed was perfect and even free of charge! The outside shower and a bath that big to fit for the three of us..Perfect family-time at the private pool and breakfast on our porch. With the best Balinese pancakes and fresh fruit of Bali. (With some extra free for the baby) If we had months on Bali then we would have stayed longer... the serene energy that brings you the rest that you need on a holiday!

Unique Quality: The pool is almost as clean as drinking water, perfect for our baby. The villa's are spacious and perfectly accomodated for bathing with a little baby (and even for a family of four). The babybed was the best we have had during our stay of three weeks in Bali. We love the walk through the beautyful surroundings of monkeyforest to the centre of Ubud.

A Perfect Stay!

WE stayed for a week in October, in a DeLux Villa. It was simply perfect! Everything we needed, the villa roomy and stylish with complete privacy provided by a lush tropical garden. Flowers everywhere. The pool is natural spa water and great for an early moring lap or two, and the staff are as friendly and helpfu as could be. If you like yoga there's classes down the road. Try the Balinese breakfast of nasi goreng and Balinese coffee - it's the best and will keep you going until dinner time. It's far enough from the heart of town to be quite and restful, but only a quick taxi ride away - about $5 Aus each way, and a taxi is always available. The only thing we would have changed is that we should have stayed there longer. We moved on to other accommodation, and regretted the move. We had the most romantic time, and will certainly be back.

Unique Quality: The highlights? The huge stone bath and outdoor shower, the private patio and bar, the pool, the flower filled shrines and beautiful staff. A driver was arranged to drive us to the sights of the region - $40 Aus a day for an 8 hour day. It was invaluable, having the unique Balinese culture explained to us as we visited the artists and shrines. WE bought some beautiful artwork which now hangs proudly on our walls.
Oh, and the breakfasts! Villa Sonia is excellent value!

Villa Sonia - my little paradise in Ubud

I could guess by the website photos it would be nice, but Villa Sonia turned out to be even better than my expectations. Green, quiet, clean, beautiful place. I l loved to have a breakfast on my balcony or swim in the crystal pool with spring water. The staff was so friendly and so helpful. I do not have any hesitations to recommend it and I am sure to be back there myself!

Unique Quality: Lovely garden, nice swimming pool, clean room.

A good place to stay in Ubud
In march 2010, we have stayed a 8 days in Villa Sonia.
On our request, we got the same room as last year. For us, it was coming home, with the friendly staff (all the same as last Year) and the beautiful garden en swimming pool. With Edy, from Villa Sonia we have made beautiful tours, also with our rented bikes. If there was a need for something or an extra service, no problem. The staff was always kind and helpful.

Ubud rentals or villas

by superfro

Hi all! I'm planning a romantic trip to the Ubud area for next April. I'm shopping around to rent a vacation home there and am looking for some suggestions and advice. We would like a private place with a pool and hopefully, some staff to cook and/or drive. Thanks in advance!
