 | Uluwatu Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 58 | | NICE. On a cliff overlooking the surf! CLEAN. I would say the eating options in the vacinity are very limited, compared to, say Kuta. But if you are a surfer, you have to stay here, if only for a night or so.
Surfer's location, but not cheap / surfer's price range. Was about $65 a nite. I bet it is very quiet at night, with the sound of the crashing waves!!! As you approach close to the edge of the cliff on Balangan Beach, on the right hand side on the dirt road are 4 thatched bungalows. Simple, but cute, each bungalow has a front porch where you can chill while feeling the fresh sea breeze. The gardens are well kept. Bed sheets were clean, but there were several mosquitoes infesting on the mosquito net, so make sure to bring plenty of repellant. The semi-open bathroom had a large vase filled with water for bathing purposes, (no shower here) a sit down toilet and sink. The stairs will lead you to the mezzanine where another bed with an amazing view is located. If you are the kind to get up several times in the middle of the night to use the loo, maybe this is not the place for you to sleep. The steps down are pretty steep. The property has its own restaurant, which is run by Made the chef and keeps it was clean. It is an easy walk down the dirt path to Balangan Beach, which for Zen seekers, in my opinion is the best. Prices: 200,000 Rp for smaller bungalows that sleeps 4 250,000 Rp for large bungalow that sleeps 6 Negotiable for longer stays and low season. The views just brilliant! Directly to the sea, with coconut trees, cool swimmingpool and Balinese accentuation everywhere --from mural in the lobby ceiling, many kind of stuffs in the room, 'till the fragrance of its flowers :) So romantic here, but I have to go soon since my work is waiting :(
I like their pool very much, then easy chair and welcome drink (put in the batok kelapa, coconut glass added with a slice of pineapple). Woww, like in Hawaii ;) Leave a Comment

Located on Dreamland Beach, one can find several cheap places to stay for under $10 US a night. I visited one of larger places planning an evening with several of my girlfriends of chilling, laughing and enjoying the beauty there. At the end of the strip of bungalow style hotels is Robby & the Kid Warung composed of 3 levels with a double bed on each floor (not including the hammock) and one shared bathroom? even though we aren't planning to sleep. To rent the whole place is 200,000 Rp a night. That's about $25 US shared among 6 of us. Not bad huh? There are other smaller Warungs to be found at 35,000 Rp the night i.e. about $4 US. Just show up after you've paid your taxes to enter Dreamland Beach. Ask for Robby or Rosita Leave a Comment Theme: OtherComparison: about averageAddress: Right on Dreamland BeachPhone: 081-2376 1951/081-1236 79212Other Contact: E-mail: rooby&thekid2003@yahoo.c

For those surfers or beach lovers who have not been to Dreamland since Dec. 2007, may be in for a surprise. All the local warungs were pulled down. A new cement construction, with restaurants, shops, a walkway for the buses of tourist to load off at, will soon to come! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

There are already plenty of sources, that inform you about the waves and surf at Dreamland, Balungan, Padang Padang and Uluwatu beach from a boy's point of view. Hmmmm.....but what about from the non-surfer, girls point of view? Are those bungalows clean and comfortable? Any slippery, creepy creatures under the bed? Does it have a squat or a sit down toilet? Is the beach nice for me???? This page is also to help you girls, that also share a love for the natural, stunning settings, where the surf occurs. Along with the cute surfers of course! Cuci Mata!... as the Indonesians would say. It's all good!
Bali's surf spots are visited by sun worshippers in the day, along with the over night, surf campers who dwell in one of the many basic accommodations, perched facing the waves. If you are a comfort seeker and clean freak like myself, try inspecting at those budget places whether the sheets have blood spots or not, (blood means fleas or bedbugs) the floor for cockroaches, and the walls for squashed mosquitoes. Scour the window screens and mosquito nets for holes. Check the bed springs and the mattress for lumps. If you ask for hot water, make sure it works. Are there any peep holes in the door or walls? I've heard stories of peeping toms. With the following pages, I've tried to put together a mini-guide for you girls out there, that may help you make your selection a bit easier. Renting a motorbike is a wise thing to do. That way you can ride around and visit other beaches, or just get something to eat. Enjoy those amazing beaches... and the cute surfers too! As you arrive to the hills of Bukit, tucked away is Angkasa Villa. 3 separate rooms with en suite bathrooms, a full kitchen and service. an extra office/guest room and a beautiful open living room with high views of Jimbaran Bay. Because of it’s location, transportation is a must. And some might prefer to be closer to the sea. But otherwise the villa has great views is of a high end category managed by The Tamu Group.

Sometimes, trying to book a place in Bali, isn’t as easy as we think. Local managers don’t check their e-mails, they don’t speak English, their phone isn’t working, they don’t have a web-site, etc. etc. etc. or simply they have no idea what they are doing! If you want to make your booking easier, an alternative choice is to contact Bali Retreats which, does bookings for a few places located in the Bukit area. Prices are higher to include their fees, but it just may be worth paying it, to be assured you have a room. If you happen to be on a tighter budget and would like to get the best deal you can at a particular venue, then try to contact the owners or managers of the venue directly. It may take a bit of patience and persistence but, let it be known that the venues have raised their prices on behalf of the advice of these agents and the growing demand and lack of supply. But if you book directly with the venue, you may just negotiate a sweet % off the actual price. Good luck! I haven't stayed here, but it's one of those basic surfer warungs. Expats are taking old warungs and trying to fresh them up. But Bingin is popular for those wave obssesive surfers. Leave a Comment

We stayed at La Joya, a small (12 bungalows) resort in Balangan. This resort is on the buket - it is on the east side before Dreamland and after Jimbaran. The beach is beautiful, although it is a climb down a steep staircase to reach. It's not great for swimming unless you have good reef shoes, but the surfing is terrific. And, of course, you can travel (by hired car) to Dreamland, Padang-padang or Uluwatu for more surf spots. There are very cheap accommodations in Bali, but at my age (60+) I like a more upscale spot with some amenities. This place was very reasonably priced for a US visitor (about $90/night including continental breakfast for my husband and me) for really lovely and gracious accommodation.
The resort is lovely - each bungalow is enclosed in its own garden. The bed is enclosed with mosquito netting and the rooms are very clean. There is a beautiful infinity pool and restaurant in the resort; down the road there is another hotel with a restaurant that was a bit cheaper. Food was good - esp. the nisi goreng. Fruit drinks yummy and great coffee. The rate includes breakfast - coffee, rolls and fruit (papaya and sweet little bananas - can't get enough of them). On site massage facilities. The service was excellent and all of the attendants were really helpful and charming. There is internet service (1000 rupiahs / minute) on a community computer, and they do have telephone service. Bring your cards and books - it is the complete relaxation experience.
