This large, triangular villa located
between Padang Padang and Uluwatu Beach
can be seen from the main road.
It’s great for a large family
or a group of friends.
It’s also perfect for surfers,
since it sits amongst the area
where all the infamous beaches are.
There is one large villa
which has three large bedrooms
with air-con and en-suite bathrooms.
The rooms are spacious and clean.
As one enters into the main area,
one can view all the way through.
There isn’t an ocean view,
but the openness of the villa
allows the sea breezes to pass through.
The kitchen in the main house,
is very large and perfect
for those who would like to
have their meals at home.
The main house,
also comes equipped with a BBQ.
There is an upper level,
to hang out and enjoy a higher view of the area ,
including the sea.
Adjacent to the main house,
is a smaller bungalow type villa.
It can be adjoined via the pool,
or the main parking area,
which allows the bungalow
its own privacy, if desired.
It also contains a small kitchenette,
1 bedroom and bathroom
with a small balcony over viewing
the pool and the endless blue sky.

A location that is off the beaten track
is Dreamland Tree House.
They just finished building
a new paved road leading to the property.
This is as down to earth
(like it’s beautiful owner)
that you can get in accommodations,
but still offering the basic essentials.
I love staying at this property,
when there is a desire to sleep
in the open sea breeze and
listen to the waves of the sea.
It’s even very romantic
in a humble way.
There are 3 main, open bungalows
and one that can be locked and enclosed.
The enclosed one,
is made of wood,
but has no adjoining bathroom.
You need to walk down the stairs
and walk a little to use the open bathroom.
The other 3 bungalows,
have a basic downstairs lounging area
with an adjoining outdoor bathroom.
Mattresses in these downstairs bungalows
are located on the floor and offer
great views of the sea and sky.
The wooden bungalow has a bed.
There is another main structure which
is used for dining and has the kitchen.
All bathrooms have toilets.
The showers are simple with shower hoses
and provide cold water.
There is a bale
perched on the cliff to watch the sunsets.
From the property itself,
you have great views of
the adjoining Bingin and Dreamland Beaches.
Until the property is sold and construction begins,
you can walk downhill towards to Dreamland
by using the empty lot next door.
There are plenty warungs at Dreamland
if you are looking to eat off property.
There are dirt paths that lead to Bingin,
where more warungs offering
a bite to eat are available.
Airport pickups can be provided upon request
and highly suggested,
since most cabs will not know how to get here.
This is property to stay at
if you are looking to totally chill,
get away from the crowds,
and totally connect to mother nature
and her beauties.
I love this place,
and will be back!

I recently went scouting to see a new house
that was listed on the market as a villa in Ugasan, Bukit.
The house has the common Balinese layout,
with the outdoor living room space and open kitchen.
If it’s rainy season, you will need an umbrella
when moving from one room to another.
The house is located in the back area of a residential area
and offers a security guard at the entrance of the complex.
Furnishing were brand new at the time of my visit,
with several perks such as sound system, tv, dishes, etc.
The residential complex is a bit withdrawn
from the beaches that are accessible,
and from any shops and restaurants
so you definitely need transportation.
A taxi ride is about 15-20 minutes to Dreamland
Price at my visit:
50 Euros the night

They are larger in size,
very clean,
bathrooms are nice
and more comfortable.
Even quaint.
For lcal expats,
is a great place to
come and spend a weekend
next to the beach.
The bungalow that I saw,
had 3 beds, divided amongst 2 floors.

100 meters across from the entrance
to Padang Padang Beach is the motel style venue.
The rooms are very clean,
with a rotation fan provided.
Some rooms have back doors,
so you may open it to get a current of air.
Because the structure was
built on an inclining property,
I can see it getting pretty warm
in the lower floored rooms.
Bathrooms are equipped with
a sit down toilets and a basic shower hose.
All the rooms have a front terrace.
The location provides its own restaurant and small grocery store.
A taxi stand is right across the street.
Because of it’s great location,
cleanliness, and access to Padang Padang Beach,
this may be one of the better,
budget places to choose from.
Just try to get a room upstairs.

 Single Standing Bungalows by

before arriving to the numerous steps down,
is Kembang Kuning with 5 bungalows,
and a few more under constructions.
The views are absolutely amazing.
Not only of Bingin Beach,
but also of Dreamland Beach
within the short distance.
Great for checking the surf at both beaches.
The property also offers outside chilling
with day beds.
Rooms and bathrooms with sit down toilets
are impeccably clean.
There’s no air con,
but the sea breeze should do.
And the price…..
just right.

A cheap stay near the Mexican Restaurant,
and the internet at Padang Padang,
is Kenanga Inn.
This venue is conveniently located
along the side of the main road
in Padang Padang leading to Uluwatu.
If you can get past the pink color
which has been used to
paint most of the building,
this could be an option,
as a place to stay.
There is a Balinese main building
that houses 6 rooms.
You can choose from the standard room
with fan at 100,000 Rp the night
or the room with air con at 180,000 Rp. a night.
During off season,
I am sure that you could negotiate longer stays.
Rooms are clean and simple,
decorated mostly in pink.
The room I saw,
had a TV for DVDs,
the sink was located within the bedroom,
and the toilet shares the same space
with a hose, or what is the shower
which has no curtains,
so expect to get the floor wet.
Rooms have a front porch
with a couple of chairs.
There is a large restaurant on the property,
offering cheap eats.
The venue is close enough to walk to Padang Padang Beach
but you don’t have a view of the surf from here.

the place is very basic,
but clean.
They also provide motorbike rental
and a restaurant with dishes and menus, such as:
Breakfast ranging from 6,000-8,000 Rp;

Fresh Salads from 10,000 – 15,000 Rp;
Soups from 7,000 – 8,000;
Burgers and Sandwiches from 13,000 – 20,000 Rp;

a variety of sea foods from 15,000 – 25,000 Rp;

Perched on the cliff
with sea views at Bingin Beach
is Mic’s Place.
With 5 cute bungalow,
1 with 2 bedrooms,
this is a great spot for not only surfers,
but lovers of the simple, beach life.
But higher in category than
most budget places that surround it.
A great place to take over completely amongst friends,
since the bungalows are approximate to each other.
Bungalows do not have air cons,
but are open to the sea breeze
and amazing views.
Not sure of the lighting,
since I visited it in the day.
Bathrooms are separated by an open wall.
So a bit embarrassing if you happen to catch Bali Belly
and wind up spending most of your time on the Loo.
Prices are bit more expensive here,
at the time that I visited it,
they were asking $90 a night.
But over all,
a nice place to stay,
for adventurous travelers.
Not sure if for newly weds,
since everyone can hear you at night!

Perched on the cliff at Bingin

This villa offers great views
over the surf at Bingin beach.
There are 4 enclosed bedrooms
on the lower floor.
Upstairs on the mezzanine
are several day beds which
can be used for sleeping at night,
protected by mosquito nets.
The property has a swimming pool
located near the edge of the cliff.
Dining takes place in the garden.
Definitely, this is a great place to stay,
when not occupied by the owners.
