A hidden pearl
For a three night stay in Solo we did what we seldom do: we booked a hotel in advance. We found Rumah Turi on the internet and probably would not have found it scouting around the neighbourhood, as it is located in a narrow side-street. We fell for the “Eko” concept. the much discounted rates and the location on walking distance from Danar Hadi Batik Museum and Radya Pustaka Museum.
Unique Quality: We were not disappointed. Although the hotel is located in a built-up area, the green courtyard felt a long way from the bustle of town. Morning and afternoon the plants were watered, making for a fresh tmosphere. They even have a small ricefield in the centre.
Service was very friendly and a buffet breakfast provided even when there were few guests. The hotel cannot be blamed for the circumstance that the walk to Slamet Riyaid street was somewhat hazardous along streets without sidewalks.
Coming from the west along Slamet Riyadi street: Turn left into the first main road past Purwosari station, i.e. Jalan Dr. Wahidin. At traffic lights turn right into Jalan Yosodipuro. At next crossing on the right hand corner you pass the Paragon mall. Take the second left past this crossing, where a small sign points to SMK Kanisius. The second left in this street is Jalan Srigading II. Rumah Turi is 200 m into this street on your right.
Coming from the east along Yosodipuro street: Drive along this street past the traffic lights at the crossing with Jalan Prof Dr Supomo. Then look out for a narrow street on your right where a small sign ponts to SMK Kanisius. The second left in this street is Jalan Srigading II. Rumah Turi is 200 m into this street on your right.
