    Value for money

    by

They call it a home stay, actually it is the Kalisat Coffee Plantation's guest house. In our opinion the best base for visiting Ijen crater. And the neighbourhood deserves a longer stay than one night over: exploring the Ijen plain with the coffee plantation and Blawan waterfall with hotspring.
However, we stayed just one night for seeing Ijen crater, then going on to Banyuwangi and Bali. The spacious double room we got for less than Rp 300,000 was good value for money, including free coffee and tea as well as a good breakfast. Dinner, served on order around six in the afternoon, of course was extra.

Because of the steady stream of Ijen visitors, one should make a reservation, calling mobile 08113505881.
If you find the Arabica fully booked, there is an alternative at neighbouring Blawan village, called Catimor Homestay.

Kalisat plantation also has a villa for rent which accommodates groups of 10 and more, price Rp 2,000,000 per night (October 2009).

Directions: The first settlement one reaches when taking the road from Bondowoso past Wonosari and Sukosari into the Ijen caldera plain.
