Nice stay in central area
The Shangri-La was a nice oasis from the city. I thought the rooms were very comfortable, the lobby and restaurants were nice and varied.
The staff was also very helpful. I stayed in Surabaya for many weeks so the staff became quite familiar with me. The were even helpful enough to assist with reservations for some weekend trips to Lombok. Honestly, just ask the concierge at the hotel for some help and they can make all the reservations for you at no cost. In truth, they will probably save you some money since they can use their influence to get 'locals' price and not any inflated 'foreigner' costs.
Unique Quality: There are three fully staffed and quality restaurants. There is a large pool and sun deck. If you are a privileged guest, they have a comfortable lounge on the upper floors.

The Shangri-La Hotel Surabaya is located in the Capital and economic center of Soroboyo, near the harbour and island ferries and is just 10 minutes from the central business district and 20 minutes from Juanda International Airport.
