Sunset Beach Resort: Local style at Bandengan Beach
The second choice resort at Bandengan beach is Sunset Beach. Most rooms and cottages are just a few steps from the beach.
We obtained the only cottage facing the beach, which was not even quite finished, workmen still working on the ground floor.
Room prices start at Rp 300,000 (June 2009), our cottage cost Rp 750,000.
We found the service friendly, but rather sloppy. When too many guests were taking a shower, we on the upper floor had no water.
So if you value your comfort and the price does not matter, neighbouring Palm Beach Resort is the better choice.
The terrace of Sunset Beach also accepts visitors who are not staying the night.

Palm Beach Resort: Luxury at Bandengan Beach
At Bandengan beach there are two relatively new resorts, both owned by expats.
The best of the two is Palm Beach Resort. But as we came without reservation in the holiday season, we found it fully booked.
So for more details we refer to the website.
Net rates according to the list we obtained (June 2009):
Rp 700,000 to 800,000 on weekdays, Rp 875,000 to 1,000,000 on weekends. These rates include breakfast for two but are exclusive of tax and service.
Unique Quality: Only seven cottages, all different, each accommodating a maximum of four adults.
Good clean swimming pool and garden.

Hotel Segoro: Our choice in town
We checked out three budget hotels in Jepara, and chose Hotel Segoro. It is centrally located, and in fairly good shape. Room rates per May 2007: Rp 70,000.- (with fan), Rp 170,000.- (VIP, AC), Rp 190,000.- (“suite”, AC), Rp 230,000.- (family suite).
Rates are all-in, and include breakfast for two.
