Mutiara Guethouse: Banda's best!
We stayed with Abba and his wife Dila in September 2011 and were amazed by their standard of service. The 4 rooms are situated in an old colonial house. They're big and the cleanest that we've ever come across in Asia.
On the grounds there's cinnamon and nutmeg trees.
Abba knows everything you want to know about the history of the Banda Islands and more. He is more than happy to talk about it, any time you like. We learned a lot from him.
We did a spice trip to Banda Besar with him and got to see the Almond and Nutmeg plantations, he explained us about the processing of the spices.
Dila cooked us meals every night. Too much too handle and one of the most delicious meals we've ever tasted. Her Eggplant with Almond sauce is an absolute winner. As well as her smoked/grilled fish in nutmeg sauce.
For breakfast, try her delicious thin cinnamon pancake.
Abba can also organize your snorkeling trips at good rates with a fast boat to maximize your snorkeling time.
We highly recommend this place as Abba and his wife are truly lovely people who'll do anything to make their guest comfortable and happy. It's has just pro's no cons as far as we're concerned.
Unique Quality: Spotlessly clean rooms, every meal was a pleasure to have. The food is definitely amongst one of the best we've ever tasted in Asia, Abba is always there when you need him, he can organize all your transport and trips and nothing is ever too much for him. We very much admired his endless energy to answer peoples questions.

Delfika2: Bandaneira's best guesthouse
The front bedroom at Delfika2 overlooking the water, the public dock next door, and most incredibly staring straight at the volcano is undoubtedly the best room in the Bandas! Host Bahri is a great guy who arranges snorkelling boats whenever you want them, and gathers a group together to share costs. The food his wife cooks at Delfika1 is also very good. The meals at Mutiara are gourmet quality and if you tell them in the morning, they will include you at their table. The village of Bandaneira is always fun to explore as are all the islands we snorkelled at. We stayed two weeks in November 2010 and I think covered pretty much all the great reefs, revisiting our big favourites. Can't wait to return. If you email Bahri he will help with flight arrangements to and from Ambon.

Vita Guest House: Great Guest House with beautiful views
Vita Guesthouse is right in the heart of Bandaneira. There are seven large, clean rooms with their own bathrooms. In January 2011 the rooms were 100,000 rupiah per night including a big breakfast (125,000 for rooms with air-conditioning). The staff are incredibly friendly and willing to help out in any way - arranging snorkelling trips, transport to other islands etc. You can arrange to have dinner at the guesthouse (50 - 60,000) - the meals are sensational. But perhaps the most appealing aspect of Vita is its location - right on the water's edge, it has its own little jetty where you can idle away time reading, watching passing water traffic, and viewing storm clouds appearing over Gunung Api. The evening breeze also helps keep the mosqitoes away (mosquitoes were a concern for tourists in some of the guesthouses frther away from the water).
Unique Quality: There is other good, friendly accommodatin options in Bandaneira, but for fantastic views and a cool breeze, few can beat Vita.

Maulana Hotel: Bandanaira's comfort zone
It is said the best acommodation in the Island. Yet, you hardly recognize it. I am pretty much disapointed with old, rusty and stained bathroom. But it has hot water- which is a luxury for the Islander. And nice coolong Air Conditioner can save you from Banda overheated sun. Ask for room number 214 at second floor which has all glass window facing the water and mountain. I am pretty much willing to pay to sit in their shady veranda with overlooking og Gunung Api and harbour. So, I can't complain too much. They served you breakfast (includes) and lunch and diner. Which is nice and healthy seafood. But, it is expensive for Island's standar. One meal cost you Rp60,000 ($6).
Unique Quality: Waterfront Veranda, hot water and old Dutch Styled building. Maulana's Hotel manager, Pak Dede is very helpful and efficient person.

Hotel Delfika
My personal preferance is Hotel Delfika, central, nice breakfast, but no 3 meals, not to expensive.

delfika 2: delfika 2
Stay here if there's no other occupants! The owner and family are staying at Delfika 1 so you will get the whole place to yourself! it's really lovely since you will get to enjoy tremendously the privacy and the wonderful view of Gunung Api and the sea.
The place is clean. And the owner will be adding a few more rooms to the second floor which will offer an even better view.
Btw, perhaps it is better to include meals for your stay so that you can more or less enjoy different food for each day. Otherwise, you will only be able to get nasi or mee goreng outside.
