In Manado has Hotel 5 stars, and you can get easier than hotels..
As you know the facilities for hotels. They are not the same facilities like 5 stars hotel.
Finally I chose to stay in Two Fish Divers in Bunaken.
The price and the services were not bad.
They also provide dive and accommodation services in Lembeh, but due to time contraint, I only managed to dive & stay in Bunaken.
For more details, please refer to their website:
Hope the information is useful for future reference.
The hotel is new, and located bit out of the central. It face the sea, but really close to the mountain. The standard hotel room is spacious and clean. The rate is good compared with another hotel downtown, since breakfast provided. Provide cable TV, good water and a very very nice hotel staff. The hotel staff are helpful.
Pulisan Jungle Resort will be the perfect place to stay for the adventurer and diver traveller. It is located at the beach jungle of Pulisan, 2 hours drive from Manado, where you can see the traditional fishermen and enjoy your vacation far away from the hectic city Manado. Many tours offered by the owners, Katrina and Annie, like hiking and trekking to Tangkoko, Minahasa tour, diving hours, etc. It has great staff who serve you sincerely, magnificent views of sunrise, cheerful local people which I believe lead the visitors to come back again. I read a complaint about the food on VT before, but you may request for your own special menu .Check the website for more pictures and features. You may see some videos about Pulisan on youtube too.
This is the place for customised diving! I chose to stay here because I can dive at my own pace, whenever I want and wherever I choose. I can even have my own guide as well as my own boat! Boats are comfy with bathroom, electricity to charge my batteries (very important since each dive is 60 minutes or more) and the resort has a great house reel with its own mandarin fish! This is what I call "dream diving"!!!
There are only five detached bungalows so it's never too crowded either at the resort, on the boat or at the dive sites. From my verandah and the resort lounge, there are magnificent views of the beautiful bay, volcanoes and surrounding scenery. Rooms are big, fan-cooled and there is hot water in the bathroom (but no flush toilets. There is a toilet bowl and to flush, it's fill your bucket and flush it yourself).
The owners, Rob and Linda are very helpful and they make it a point to have dinner with all their guests every night. Definitely a place I would come back and recommend to friends.
You're probably thinking - sounds great but can I afford it? At Euro 556 for 7 nights and 6 days diving (all inclusive) with extra Euro 180 for unlimited diving, it is the most affordable dive resort in Lembeh. Here's what I got :
- Transfers from/to airport or Manado
- Bungalow, very spacious bungalow for two persons or smaller bungalow for one person
(the best part is there is not surcharge if you're a single traveller)
- All meals, water, coffee and tea
- Snacks (made fresh every afternoon)
- Non alcoholic bottled beverages
- Laundry service (everything is hand washed)
- Use of computer and CD/DVD-burner
- Two dives by boat per day (third dive on the same day, for example nightdive, € 20,-)
Customised diving with own guide and own boat
House reef with mandarin fish
No single supplement for single occupancy
It turned out my visit to Manado is extended until last April 2007. And during my visit from 2005 to 2007, a new hotel in the center of the city is built. So, I moved from the old-rotten Ritzy hotel to Quality hotel.
As a chain hotel, it has everything as I expected. Sanitized WC - clean sheet (rarely found in Ritzly hotel) and more teve programme. The room is clean and pristine. They have nice bed and I can sleep well. And the breakfast is also better. THey also have wi-fi in the hotel - a luxury you cannot find easily in Manado. Overall - it is the hotel I really like during my visit to Manado...!!!
You will probably like the view from 6th floor - of ritzy hotel - where you can sunbathed in the pool and have a good view to the ocean. But I choose Quality, as I came there once a week and I need good rest.
They have good fried banana - try some!
During my stay? Its alright although the rooms a bit small with a queen bed in it. For a day I dont mind though.
No unique quality. Just a average hotel. Its alright for a short stay. Cheap also.
Accomodation in Tangkoko is very basic.
The food is good and the staff is friendly.
Price: 75.000 Rp (3 meals included)
The best thing about this hotel is that it's located right next to the best breakfast place in Manado! Incase you haven't heard, when you're in Manado, you have to try the Burbur Manado - a kind of porridge with corn, mint leaves, sweet soy sauce and other vegetables - and the best place to get it is at the little shop diagonally opposite the hotel at the road junction. Hotel New Queen is a good place to check into if you don't intend to spend much time in there. The simple diner located at the lobby doesn't do Manado or Indonesian food any justice. Conditions are very decent and it's safe. It actually has a working mini bar with water and beer so that's always a plus. It's a very comfortable place to crash and very reasonably priced at Rp 250,000 a night, incl breakfast and dinner. Another tip: Don't bother with the hotels' Rp 60,000/1hr massage, there are better spas all over Manado.
What I am greatful to the hotel for is that perhaps they realise they don't serve meals-to-die-for... that's why they allow you to exchange dinner for laundry! That's right!
Another plus is that it is located near two internet cafes, the post office, the super market and just a street away from Boulevard Road where cheap and good eating places line the reclaimed coast. There's also a cafe opposite the Ritzy Hotel called the Sunset Cafe where many like to dine at and watch the sun go down on the hoizon. Staff at the cafe are also friendly and efficient which makes dining pleasant.
Because it is not located on Sam Ratulangi Street itself, it is priced a little lower, which is just perfect - you wouldn't want to be located right on the main street anyway because its a loud and busy road.
