Possibly the best in the newst in town. It cost around 500,000 rupiah per nite with breakfast. The rooms are fairly large, has nice bathrooms, CNN tv etc. The hotel has a great Chinese restaurant and a Japanese restaurant. It is however not too close toanything interesting - at least not by foot. The neighbourhood is better than Novotel hote which although is much more central. Grand Angkasa has a 24 hour biz centre - which i am working at now!!!
And also a very very good Chinese restaurant
Grand Angkasa seems to be indeed the best hotel in town as already reviewed by Audrey118. Moved to Angkasa from the now rundown Novotel Soechi. The building is well maintained, rooms large, the health club has a nice spa and the gym equipment is plentiful and modern. A 460,000 Rp rate (approx US$60) for the deluxe room included breakfast buffet. The only negatives are that some of the gym equipment is non functional and had not been repaired within a month as I came back to the hotel for stays a few times in Janauary 2004; a news concession is advertised but can not be found in the hotel; and the room information folder is disorgaized or torn. Never enough front office staff at busy times, only one person at check-out and check-in peaks, should need more dutu manager attention to staff scheduling! Yet, definitely recommended for Medan if you need to work on the visit.
Unique Quality: Nice, modern building, attempt to have grand style in the interiors, as the name says. Helpful staff.
