Furaya Hotel: Value for money
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The spa and massage is good and clean. There is a nice band playing at night. Only setback is I find the rooms a bit too warm when you first enter. It's okay after a while when the A/C is running.
The hotel is located along the main thoroughfare of Jl. Jend. Sudirman. Food and entertainment outlets are within walking distance. The airport is about 15 min away.

hotel Mona Plaza: only rooms without any window
I dindn't stay here, because I like to have a window in my room. This hotel has no room at all with a window. The windows you see from the outside are only for the corridors. The rooms even have no windows to the corridors. So you can see nothing but the walls of your room.

wisma SMR: a room with a window and warm water
This hotel is a little south from Pekanbaru, on the mainroad (so still noisy). But there is at a shower with warm water and a window in your room.
You have less problems with traffic jam when you stay here in stead of a hotel in Pekanbaru, when you want to go to the airport (about 45 min.).
A angkot (liitle public bus) to kota Pekanbaru will cost about 5000 Rp. per person, just pay when you get out. A taxi will cost 30.000 Rp. This is the normal price for local people.
They may try to ask a lot more, Australian people who work in Pekanbaru pay often 25.000 for a angkot to go to the centre. If they want you to pay to much, wait for another angkot.
Unique Quality: You can eat outside, next to the hotel are restaurants in the open air. Good, cheap, but a lot of noice from the cars and scooters.
If you walk to the south, there is a little market.

Unique Quality: This Hotel beside the Metro Supermarket and infront of Mall Pekanbaru....Nice hotel. Not far Dyan Graha Hotel...

Nice and good hotel in the central city of Pekanbaru. easy to everywhere, and full of facilities, hot and cold water, breakfast, swimming pool

Homestay
Homestays are available at certain part of the province. But in this case this is situated 3 hours from Pekanbaru. I can’t really recall what the area is called. Sorry bout that. Will fill it up once I find it out. Anyway, the prices are so cheap!
