Driving in Batam
by rajitravel
Driving in Batam needs alot of understanding. If you noticed on the main city, you'll see many vehicles turning with a horn or so. It's just normal here. The roads are long and winding at the inner part of Batam. It is because, the place is filled with hills.
Typical makeshift store
by rajitravel
The makeshift stores like this are not many seen at the city centres as the authority is trying to curb off this illegal business. But further inner part of the island, you can still see many of these makeshift stores. No need to pay rent. Not really, some government official will come to collect some money from these store owners which they will pocket it as their own source of income.

by victorwkf
During my flight from Jakarta to Batam in January 2008, I managed to take a few photographs of the Muka Kunung Reservoir, which is located at the centre part of Batam Island. There are 5 main reservoirs at Batam, namely:
Sungai Harapan Reservoir (west side of island)
Sungai Ladi Reservoir (near to Nagoya town)
Sungai Balai Reservoir (near to Nagoya town)
Muka Kunung Reservoir (centre part of island)
Nongsa Reservoir (north-east side, near to the famous Nongsa Beach)
Budi Kemuliaan Hospital
by rajitravel
Budi Kemuliaan Hospital is highly regarded by locals as European standard, with VIP rooms and sophisticated equipment. Perhaps thus it comes as no surprise that its newest building is aimed to serve the needs of inpatient and outpatient facilities for HIV/AIDS cases in Batam. Address: Jalan Budi Kemuliaan no. 1 Tel: (0778)454044
