Deserted roads
by bkarjee
There are miles and miles of such deserted roads and the street markings are not so clear. As long as you are escorted by a local driver, there are no issues, but if you are driving, better watch out. You need good road map, which is difficullt to find and moreover if you seek a local persons help in finding your way out, language becomes a big barrier We decided to go on a long ride to this place called Vietnam camp and this was thew type of road we encountered. The landscape is beautiful.
Batam Center

There are many ferry terminals in Batam. Sekupang used to be its domestic and international ferry terminals operating to and fro Batam. However, due to Sekupang is further away from Batam city, Nagoya, and the loitering of notorious theives and pickpocketers, Batam Center existence in the Nagoya is becoming more popular in recent days.
Now Batam Center is the main ferry terminal for transporting tourists from Singapore and nearby Malaysia as well as from nearby Riau Islands. The opening of Batam Center Shopping Mall in early 2005 is putting Batam Center as not only a place where tourists arrive and depart but also proving itself as a shopping paradise.

Immigration check
by rajitravel
Like everywhere, here's where the immigration check at Batam Center Ferry terminal. Though, they have a screening check but they are not really that strict as in Singapore. I always had metals on my body especially on my boots and bangles. As the metal detectors sounded while I cross through, the officer just let me through without any problem.
