    Best Resort on Bintan

    by

Although the Banyan Tree Resort dosent come cheap, it offers you the perfect retreat you desire when you choose to have a beach holiday. Total private, quiet and idle. Yet some one will always be at your service whenever you require any assistance. The hospitality services extended by its staff was warm, genuine and seamless (Its different from 5 star hotel where staff are so polished. At Banyan Tree, the staff remains very local in nature yet maintaining a high standard of professional) Its excellent internal coms plan ensures that every staff has extensive information on the resort, and also ensures that every details is noted and execuated. I never had to repeat myself twice in my 3 days stay there. The follow-up is excellent. The individual villas also offered full privacy at all times with your own jacuzzi pool. Enjoy!!

Unique Quality: Great view of the South China Sea from most villas. If you don't get a full view, at least some view through the trees.

An amazing spa-resort with private villas, all with outdoor jacuzzi, and some with a private plunge pool. We've been there 2 times now, once staying in a sea-view villa (which only has the jacuzzi), and once in a one bedroom pool villa. The villa's rooms are luxurious, large king sized bed, and tastefully decorated hard-wood furniture. There is also wireless internet access if you must keep in touch with the outside world. The villas offer a lot of privacy - you'd really have to try to peer into someone else's villa, although it probably is possible. You'll probably find that you'll spend most of your day naked, the most you'll be wearing is the bath robe provided. Both villas we stayed at had generous sundeck areas, and with the warm, humid, sunny days in Bintan, it was perfect to lie back with a good book in the large sunlounges and work on an all over even tan, taking the occasional dip in our private pool to cool off. There are also two public pool areas, one at the tree tops, near the restaurant, and one at the beach club. Both pools are infinity pools (incidentally, so is the pool in the pool villas) and are set in idyllic surroundings. The public pool areas are usually quite quiet, often there'll be no more than 3 or 4 other people around. All the restaurants are of a very high standard and with reasonable prices. Since you will probably not want to leave your villa after a 'hard' day spent at the spa, you'll be glad to know that the room service menu is also absolutely delicious. As a special treat, the resort has four signature dinners - one is held at one of the holes on the golf course, one on top of the pool at the tree tops, one on the rocks by the seaside, and one on the beach and features a massage on the beach before dinner!

Unique Quality: A must do at Banyan Tree is their spa treatments. I indulged in spa treatments every day, and on some days twice. There is a special 7-hour treatment that is absolutely bliss. For the more prudish, be warned, as the therapists do insist that you are nude for the body treatments. The therapists are all female however, and are very professional in the way they drape you, although, in some treatments you are very exposed. My favourite has to be the rainmist shower - which has you exfoliated by coconut scrub, than wrapped with an avocado mask, then moisturised by a warm oil and then drizzled by a warm 'rain shower' all this is followed by a steam sauna and then a whole body massage of your choice. heaven. For this treatment, my modesty was maintained by a handkerchief sized towel covering down below. A little self conscious at first, but I didn't really mind this at all as the treatment progressed. Anyone that thinks they will feel a little shy about this, i recommend just get over your sensitivities and enjoy it. you'll be glad you did!

Best place I have ever stayed. It is expensive but well worth it. I had 4 days before starting a new job so spent 2 weeks of normal holidaying budget. Result? I started the new job rested, reinvigorated and replennished!

Unique Quality: Tranquility, ease of getting around. (courtesy golf buggies..chauferred of course)

Stayed at the sea front villa at banyan tree. It has an open-air jet pool on a wooden deck outside the bedroom over looking the south china sea. The bed was a poster bed with luxurious pillows and a sunken bath tub.

    - We have spent 3 night at Banyan Tree, and room type we have picked is 'Jacuzzi Villa on the Rock'.
    - Each 'villa' is just like 'hiding' between the trees, and there is short distance between each room, which surely allow guests to enjoy their privacy...
    - We spent most of the time within the Resort. SPA is a MUST. There are also water sport recreation centre and various kind of activities....

Unique Quality: - I can really unwind myself and I LOVE almost everything there....
    - They have 'Aroma of the Day' in each villa, when you step into the villa after day long activities, the smell of the aroma can really give you a refresh...
    - I especially like the bathroom...because i can draw up the curtain, facing the fabulous ocean view while taking my 'morning bath'....

Tired and overpriced

by TripAdvisor Member rooster57

We came to the Banyan Tree Bintan with high expectation. As we had not stayed at a Banyan Tree resort before we could only really build our expectation from the rack rate.

On arrival we found the staff courtious and friendly and were shown to our villa after a short arrival process. We were very disappointed with what we found. The accomodation could only be described as shabby and in desperate need of refurbishing. Small details like an old magazine left in the rack by the toilet and shampoo in jars did not inspire confidence. Hot water was in short supply and there seems to be a major issue with getting enough towels. This would be poor in a mediocre hotel but at $500.00+ per night it is completely unnacceptable.

The whole place seems to be very frayed at the edges not as you would expect from a "five star" hotel.

Come on Banyan Tree, spend some money on the place or drastically reduce your rates.

I have stayed st the hill view ones...the villa is not too bad...very romantic kinda ambience...but food can be quite costly...however if $ is not an issue maybe you could try the sea-facing villas.
