Nice Villas

It was a nice weekend gateaway location. Stayed at this resort for the weekend. Pretty serene and nice. Got a beach too. Can have fun doing the water sports. Played beach volleyball, went boat-paddling. Tired but had fun. The services are also very good. The staff are all very courteous and friendly. The prices are that expensive too. would recommend this if you like a quiet weekend getaway from the busy city life.

Unique Quality: Nice villas. Suitable for group outings.

Villas

Banyu Biru has 4 villa types: Samudra Villa with four bedrooms(8 persons), Buana and Suria Villa with three bedrooms(6 persons) and Belantra Villa with two bedrooms(4 persons). These villas are very good if you have a big group of friends going together. I like the kitchen facilities where I can cook as the restaurants in Bintan are over-priced.

Unique Quality: Personally, I like the kitchen facilities and swimming pool. In addition, guests have access to Nirwana Gardens' facilities too. The surroundings are peaceful enough for pure relaxation.

Independant double storey bunglows for 4-8 people

We never stayed in this Resort, but their chalets/villas were located just next door to our hotel rooms. The villas looked very attractive amongst a canopy of palm trees. Banyu Biru Villas are independent 2 storey bungalows with 2-4 bedrooms, a living room and a fully furnished kitchen. They can accommodate 4-8 people and hence is ideal for groups or extended families.

Unique Quality: The independent Bungalows come with self sufficient kitchen, had their own Swimming pool, also had a Club House with Sauna and is located very close to Nirwana Beach hotel. Hence can also use the facilities of this resort, as they belong to the same management. Most of these Villas are located next to the white sandy beach and their balconies/verandah faces the sea.

Affordable Family Style Accomodation

I did not stay here during my visit to Bintan, but a friend did and I think it is a great place for families and friends who would like to stay together during their holiday there. Each villa is self-contained with its own bedrooms (there are 2 - 4 bedrooms villa for 4 to 8 guests), living area, and kitchen (for some).

Banyu Biru Villas has its own swimming pool and club house, but I think most of its guests will just go to the Nirwana Resort located next door instead, as it boast more extensive as well as better facilities.

The best part was that it is quite a bit cheaper than staying at Nirwana Resort.

Unique Quality: It offers quite good privacy as each villa is some distance away from the next.

The perfect Getaway from Singapore

by bkarjee about Nirwana Hotel Resort, Bintan Islands

Nirwana Garden Resorts is basically a collection of five resorts, which are all located in the northern part of the island. All these resorts are located very close to each other and there is a regular shuttle bus service connecting them roughly at 30 mts interval.
Nirwana Hotel Resort
Banyu Biru Resort,
Mayang Sari Resort
Mana Mana Resort,
Indra Maya Resort.
Each of them provide different types of accomodation, varying from Deluxe Hotel rooms to fully furnished 2 bed room Hall sea facing duplexes with private pool, jaccuzzi and lot of other 5 star comforts.
At the Nirwana Hotel Resort, the reception was crowded with holiday goers, this being the super peak season of holidays. Deepawali and Hari Raya was falling in the same week and there could’nt have been a better time to go for holidays for Singapore residents. We arrived at the reception at 1300 hrs only to be told that the rooms are not ready till 1430 hrs (Check out time 1200 hrs, check in time 1500 hrs). We decided to have lunch at the poolside restaurant and comeback at 1430 hrs.
The lunch at the poolside restaurant was very good (a mix of Western, Chinese and Indonesian food) although the service was slightly slow on account of the heavy crowd. The atmosphere was very relaxing.
Eating options at Bintan Resorts are plentiful and there is a whole range of Asian food available. Each of the Resort has few restaurant within its premises and lemme tell you, they are more expensive then the local Singapore Restaurants of the same category. A more detailed account of food and beverages options is included in the ‘Restaurant’ section of the travel tips Nirwana Hotel Resort has all the facilities that a hotel in its category can provide. They have tastefully decorated swimming pool, one for adults and one for kids, jaccuzzi, children club area, gaming area, Gymnasium, spa and a lot more to keep everybody occupied.
Nirwana resort has a fully equipped Kids Club Center at the clubhouse. They take in kids 4-8 years old and involve them in fish feeding, face painting, drawing and coloring, mask making, story telling, sand castle building. All this is enough for the kids to be busy for the day.

Internet connectivity is available at the business center at the Nirwana Hotel Resort.

Car Hire+guide to Tanjung Pinang

by zenani

Hi,
I wonder if anyone knows if it is possible to hire a driver cum guide for a day tour to Tanjung Pinang and Pengareng (?) . My family of 7 to 8 will be there in Dec06. Many of the day tours look too expensive for us.
Also has anyone been to the Mangrove tour organised by the resorts. The agenda says 2 hrs, which sounds a bit short. Is it for good value?
Thanks.
