Re: resort recommendation

All the resorts in Bintan are in an enclosed area of some 100 acres at the Northern end of the island. They are all virtually the same so if I was you I would take the best price available. My wife and I got a great deal at Angsana and the resort was fantastic. However, we normally travel 2-3 star in Asia so this was a real step up to some luxury for us!

I recommend Bintan Lagoon resort. The biggest in Bintan island and very ideal for lovers.
Travel Tips for Pulau Bintan
The Great Garudha, National Symbol of Indonesia
by Amar_kirale
Just outside the Bintan Ferry Terminal there is a huge Garuda Statue. It’s a national symbol of Indonesia. Though a Muslim country it reflects early Hindu influence. On our way we enjoyed scenic beauty of the Island. Prestine blue waters and beaches make this island an experience to remember. Perfect for those who are finding an escape from busy city life...Place for relaxing and to do soul searching.....
Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal
by bkarjee
From Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, there are ferry services available for going to Bintan Ferry Terminal (Bandar Bentan Telani) in Indonesia and Batam Ferry Terminal. The immigration procedures are similar to arrival/departure lounges at/from any international airport. There are check in counters for Bintan Resort Ferries and also for some other ferry companies. Make sure you are heading to the right counter.
There are duty free shops at arrival lounge. But you can do your duty free purchasing only when you have stayed overseas for more than 48 hours.
There is a bus service (#35) connecting Bedok/Tanah Merah MRT Station to the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and the travel time is approx. 20 MTS. Excellant service efficiency at the ferry terminal
Bring your own water
by kielorla
Bring your own drinkable water, as the resort selling the water at a very expensive price. A small 50ml of evian water cost S$3 !!!!
Therefore try to buy water from Singapore, if you come from Changi Airport, bring those bottled water from the supermart in the airport. And also Coke and beer. Stock them up too as they will be triple the price in Bintan.
I brought 4 bottles of 2litres of water, 1 bottle of 2 litres of coke. And i am grateful that i did, thanks to Natalia from VT who has advised me.
Just 45 minutes from Singapore.
by A2002
Bintan Resorts is just 45 minutes by ferry from Singapore Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.
It cost me SGD36.20 for the return trip (weekday / off-peak). It would cost SGD45 for travels on weekends.
For more information about Bintan Resorts, visit http://www.bintan-resorts.com/
For information about the ferry, visit http://www.brf.com.sg/. You can also make booking online for the ferry! I was impressed. Simple to use. I love bookings online... very convenient. A place for relaxation and get away from the bustling, fast paced city life of Singapore. I found this secluded beach in front of the villa I stayed in at Indra Maya. The view of sunset is superb here...
Best time to visit Pulau Bintan
by xuessium
Bintan's weather mirrors Singapore's. The wettest months would be from mid November till early February, with the peak usually around late December/early January. There might also a brief rainy period between late May to late July. Other than that, it should be fair weather with the occasional Tropical thunderstorms for the rest of the months.
