Laying at the pool side at Nirwana Resort is quite a special feeling. You look out over the pool, which looks to go on forever.
The angle puts the pool and the ocean outside together, and creates a nice view over the Indian Ocean.
Nirwana Resort is, as far as I know, the biggest resort on Bintan island. Easy to reach through the shuttle bus that picks the guests up at the ferry terminal and then bring you back on your departure day.
The lobby is gigantic, but if there are a lot of guests arriving at the same time check in can take some time. So a good advice could be to run off the bus as quickly as possible.
Rooms are huge, nice and with big bathrooms. We have been there twice and have slept well both times.
The resort is located right next to the beach, but between the hotel and the beach there is a huge garden with the swimming pool. Despite the hotel is so big it never feels crowded (except possibly in the reception at check in time), neither at the pool, garden, beach or restaurant.
Breakfast is amazing and one of the reasons I would like to go back again and again and again. Sitting indoor, but with open walls, one can feast on everything from fruits to sweets, cakes, eggs, pancakes and more and more and more. And it taste good and fresh too.
In the lobby there is also a restaurant which we have found all the three times we have eaten there, and the coffee bar is also very nice, with both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks on the menu. There is also a Polo shop, with big discounts for those who are in shopping mode.
The calmness. Despite being so huge it's very easy to relax at Nirwana Resort. Perfect for a weekend getaway.
There isn't so much to do though, despite the new area with activities. So more than a weekend would probably make most people quite bored.
Rather unique were also the huge beetles that suddenly invaded the hotel corridors the second time we were there. Coming from Sweden I'm not very used to huge insects like that and wanted to look myself into a safe box to get away from them. My dear Herny just laughed though, so I guess there weren't as life threatening as I first thought...
Also have a look at the iguanas next to the breakfast hall. Very interesting.
Welcome to the tropical paradise of Bintan Lagoon Resort. Set amongst more than 300 hectares of beachfront gardens, this deluxe Bintan resort offers a world of choice. Ideally situated just 55 minutes by high speed ferry from Singapore, Bintan Lagoon Resort overlooks the South China Sea and archipelago of the Riau islands.
Sparkling azure waters, gently swaying palm trees, sugar fine white sands and warm personalized service complete the picture postcard of Bintan Lagoon Resort
the best seafood buffet i ever had
This hotel is reasonably lower in price than the other hotels in bintan resorts area. It has your typical hotel facilities. Daily group and/or free activities are organised for hotel guests.
Hotel provice to and fro transfer service.
Its Swimming Pool. Although the beach is only steps away and you do not want to get too much sand on you, you may enjoy dipping into its pools. The pools has nice view of the south china sea.
Free board games in the hotel lobby area.
Take note - Has a number of restaurants to choose. Prices are in SGD and subject to 21% taxes. One restaurant i would recommend is the Kelong Restaurant. Nice ambience, prices are more reasonable.
Take note - Avoid weekends that coincides with SG public holidays and SG school holidays - hotel stay is more expensive and more crowded!
Impressive. You get a very large room with a king sized bed and even a porch/balcony with furniture outside. Inside you have a raised platform on one side of the bed where you can do yoga or just relax on the floor with huge chair-shaped pillows. The bathroom has a deep bath, shower, retractable drying line and all sorts of shampoos, soaps, even toothbrushes. Put all the piles of free stuff in your bags and they replace them again and again! There is a 25 inch satellite TV and a very good sized refrigerator for cold drinks and your own alcohol. The closets have a light that comes on when you open them and there are stylish his & her robes hanging inside. The housekeeping staff also leave you fresh fruit.
The bed? Heaven.
Well done hotel people!
This hotel is listed in a lot of guide books. They tell you that it is a fantastic 4-star hotel all by itself on the most beautiful beach on the island. Weird. No internet site. And the telephone numbers don’t work. None of them. I really wanted to stay here, but could not get in contact. It is one the most beautiful beach on the island – except it went out of business. Not sure why. It’s not all bad news. There is a family living there and they will rent you a clean room with linens cheaply. Just don’t expect much above very basic on food. This place is worth a visit.
Lovely stay. We felt welcome from the very beginning!
Friendly staff, GREAT breakfast and dinner buffet, awesome pool, nice pool bar, very close to the beach, nice rooms.... GREAT Hotel. Only downsides: only one round of drinks is included in dinner buffet price and their shop is very expensive (esp. suncream). Prices from SGD 145 (internet prices).
This is the most romantic place in Bintan Resorts. Well designed along the nature preservation, Banyan Tree is a calm, romantic place and incredible ocean view for couples who want to have a great and romantic experience together. Trust me, once you visit Banyan Tree, you will always want to come back...
Friendly people and nature friendly architecture made Banyan Tree as 1 of the best resort in the world
I've stayed at a couple other resorts in Bintan Resorts, but so far i find Nirwana to be the one I would go back to for my next weekend break. The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated with local furniture and the hotel staff are friendly. The pool is huge and great for adults and kids too. And it's a stone's throwaway from the beach.
The pool has a pool bar and water jets. A life-size chess set. Coolness!
Not bad hotel, with a beautiful private beach and great food. The service staff is nice and helpful.
The beach stretches quite a long way and I especially love the night view of the hotel.
However, price of accomodation in Bintan is generally comparable to that in Singapore because all hotels are managed by Singapore.
Great views. The photos speaks a thousand words
Nirwana is a cool place to go for the weekend when you live in Singapore and there are no real beaches and life seems to be too full of the urban this and that. Get yer self a ferry ticket and head to Nirwana Bintan for a couple of days, 2 max. The resort isn't too high key, brown tap water make for poop showers, but the comfort is there. Oh, and if they over book the hotel, ya get a free upgrade. We were lucky one out of the two time we went to Bintan, and we got an upgrade a cozy suite with a big bathroom, living room and balcony.
Go for the breakfast buffet!!!

It addition, you can book for trips to the mangrove and town. You can also go to the nearby Nirwana Resorts to join their activities such as deep sea fishing.
It has a beautiful view of the ocean and a nice private beach. The rooms are big and clean. There are three restaurants to choose from if you dont want to roam around Bintan.

Each of them provide different types of accomodation, varying from Deluxe Hotel rooms to fully furnished 2 bed room Hall sea facing duplexes with private pool, jaccuzzi and lot of other 5 star comforts.
At the Nirwana Hotel Resort, the reception was crowded with holiday goers, this being the super peak season of holidays. Deepawali and Hari Raya was falling in the same week and there could’nt have been a better time to go for holidays for Singapore residents. We arrived at the reception at 1300 hrs only to be told that the rooms are not ready till 1430 hrs (Check out time 1200 hrs, check in time 1500 hrs). We decided to have lunch at the poolside restaurant and comeback at 1430 hrs.
The lunch at the poolside restaurant was very good (a mix of Western, Chinese and Indonesian food) although the service was slightly slow on account of the heavy crowd. The atmosphere was very relaxing.
Eating options at Bintan Resorts are plentiful and there is a whole range of Asian food available. Each of the Resort has few restaurant within its premises and lemme tell you, they are more expensive then the local Singapore Restaurants of the same category. A more detailed account of food and beverages options is included in the ‘Restaurant’ section of the travel tips
Nirwana Hotel Resort has all the facilities that a hotel in its category can provide. They have tastefully decorated swimming pool, one for adults and one for kids, jaccuzzi, children club area, gaming area, Gymnasium, spa and a lot more to keep everybody occupied.
Nirwana resort has a fully equipped Kids Club Center at the clubhouse. They take in kids 4-8 years old and involve them in fish feeding, face painting, drawing and coloring, mask making, story telling, sand castle building. All this is enough for the kids to be busy for the day.
Internet connectivity is available at the business center at the Nirwana Hotel Resort.
Maya is exemplary of its name exuding dream-like quality and extravagant beauty fit for a god. We stayed in a villa which is an exquisite fusion of exotic Indonesian, Thai and Chinese architectural elements.
We had a personal butler on hand and a buggy to take us anywhere within Nirwana Gardens
And a personal pool too!!!
Other than Angsana, there are other budget sleeps and spas around the island. Here's a handy list
ManaMana - Simple chalets by the beach, popular with undergrads and the younger crowd who are intrested in sea sports. There is rocky outcrop there that has lots of bannerfish and sea cucumber. http://www.manamana.com (S$100+++)
Nirwana Resort Hotel - Very popular with Singaporean families. They have a spa/hotel package . There is a sister hotel by the name of Mayang Sari Hotel but it does not have a pool. www.asmaraspas.com(S$130+).
