Various: Budget Sleeps/ Spas in Bintan

Other than Angsana, there are other budget sleeps and spas around the island. Here's a handy list

ManaMana - Simple chalets by the beach, popular with undergrads and the younger crowd who are intrested in sea sports. There is rocky outcrop there that has lots of bannerfish and sea cucumber. http://www.manamana.com (S$100+++)

Nirwana Resort Hotel - Very popular with Singaporean families. They have a spa/hotel package . There is a sister hotel by the name of Mayang Sari Hotel but it does not have a pool. www.asmaraspas.com(S$130+).

Nirwana Resort: Unpretentious Resort-Style Accomodation

Nirwana Resort is a bright and cheery resort-style hotel. During my stay, the hotel was very well-kept and was an absolute joy to stay in. This beach fronted hotel is located within the sprawling grounds of Nirwana Gardens and offers a reasonable array of recreational and business facilities.

Although designed to cater to the masses, it somehow still manage to retain a quiet sense of serenity which permeates the atmosphere there.

The staff were also very friendly and smile whenever eye contact is made - Genuine Indonesian hospitality.

In short, Nirwanwa Resort is a great and affordable place to unwind.

The free form swimming pool is one of the best of any hotel. It is landscaped with well-placed plants and has 2 jucuzzi sections. It also offers its users a great view of the beach and the South China Sea!

BRF Holidays: Cheaper Accomodation Rates!

This does not refer to any hotel in particular.

But if you are planning a trip to Bintan from Singapore, you may want to book both the ferry tickets and accomodation from BRF Holidays instead. BRF is of course Bintan Resort Ferries and is the operator of the ferries shuttling between Singapore's Tanah Merry Ferry Terminal and Bintan's Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal.

BRF Holidays is also the main booking agent for most of the hotels in Bintan and almost all the travel agents in Singapore (online and offline) resell the holiday packages from them. When you buy direct from BRF Holidays, you can often save about 15% or more!

It's significantly cheaper. Enough said!

Nirwana Resort Hotel

The Nirwana Resort Hotel is the place that we stayed in. It was one of the larger choices of accommodation with hotel style rooms rather than little bungalows like many of the other places.

There was a gym we used daily with two treadmills, free weights and some machine weights also.
The pool is a beautiful setting to pass the day with a spa pool hidden amongst the shrubs in the middle and even a pool bar so that you can get your drinks without leaving the cool water!
The beach is private and a short walk from the pool.

BRF Holidays Pte Ltd: Best tour agency to secure Bintan resorts packages

This is the MAIN distributor of Bintan holiday packages as this agency is linked to the Bintan Resorts Group that owns the resorts on Bintan. You are thus going directly to the source and cutting out the middlemen which may just provide you with cheaper packages than most other tour agencies.

Nirwana Resort Hotel: Nirwana Resort Hotel

This is a family-orientated resort. Lots of family-friendly facilities are available like game rooms, table tennis tables etc. It has one of best designed swimming pool among the various resorts on Bintan, so much so, the beach is pretty much deserted most of the day. You could walk the full distance of the beach and reach the next resort - the Banyan Tree, which is a good 1 hour stroll away across yet-to-be developed stretches.

Indra Maya Villa.: Indra Maya.

Self contained with 3 bedrooms, living room with tv, karaoke, dvd, etc, a fully equipped kitchen, and a private swimming pool. There's a great view from the villa to the sea and the horizon. The whole villa is air-conditioned, so no worries if the weather is too hot. The interior of the villa feels quite balinese, or maybe indonesian with lots of wood. Wooden furnitures throughout.

I like the sunken bath in the master bedroom.

BBQ pits can be rented from the hotel. They will send the pit over with charcoal, fire starters, etc, everything you need to start a fire. They also have the service of helping me to get the charcoal burning :-). Food and drinks can be ordered from the hotel too. So no worries! Just relax! Cheers!

And yes, staying exclusively among lots of trees and bushes, there are monkeys around! There's one night when they decided to pinch my food. I was so scared and quickly cook everything and bring into the villa, close all the doors and windows and enjoy my food in front of the TV enjoying the cooling air-condition. :-)

Indra Maya Villas.

"Comprising only 14 exclusive and ravishingly beautiful villas, Indra Maya is exemplary of its name exuding dream-like quality and extravagant beauty fit for a god. Every villa is an exquisite fusion of exotic Indonesian, Thai and Chinese architectural elements."

"Overlooking the north western coast of Bintan island, dazzling views of the sea are yours to relish in the luxurious comforts of your opulent suite or private courtyard. With a personal butler on hand and a buggy to take you anywhere within Nirwana Gardens, living in paradise has never been this close."

There are two types of villa - 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom. There are private swimming pool in each villa. A buggy will be provided for the occupants of the villa. This place is very exclusive because there will be a security check for entry into the Indra Maya area.

See my buggy parked at the doorstep of the villa. :-) There are many places to charge the buggy around Nirwana Gardens, so no worries that you get stuck somewhere halfway.

Indra Maya Suite.: View from Indra Maya Suite.

There are 4 suites at Indra Maya perched on top of the hill (very exclusive and quiet). Each suite comes with a 4-seater buggy. There's a swimming pool which is shared by the guests in the 4 suites. At the top of the hill, one can see both the sunrise and sunset. Very romantic and relaxing place to be for couples...

In the picture, it is the view of the beach within Nirwana Gardens stretching from Mayang Sari to Nirwana Resort Hotel.

Hotels.: Cheap Accommodations.

The hotels within the Bintan resorts are quoted in Singapore dollars (SGD) or US dollars. It is more expensive than other places on Bintan.

There are several small resorts along the east coast, costing as cheap as SGD10 per night. Most of them do not have websites. And they are out of the Bintan Resorts area. Remember to get into Bintan Resorts area from other parts of Bintan Island, you need to pass by those armed police and securities.

Nirwana Resort Hotel: Affordable Hotel and Good Service...

It has a free form swimming pool plus a jacuzzi. Good service and you get to view the sunrise/sunset everday!! Its parent hotel-- Banyu Biru Villa is a recommended hotel too, for those who travel in 4-6 a group. Huge villa with a private swimming pool. And you get free buggy rides...

Friendly staff who brought us around the whole island at night to look at the other hotels available. We went star-gazing together too. Beautiful...!

MY ROOM AT BINTAN LAGOON

Impressive. You get a very large room with a king sized bed and even a porch/balcony with furniture outside. Inside you have a raised platform on one side of the bed where you can do yoga or just relax on the floor with huge chair-shaped pillows. The bathroom has a deep bath, shower, retractable drying line and all sorts of shampoos, soaps, even toothbrushes. Put all the piles of free stuff in your bags and they replace them again and again! There is a 25 inch satellite TV and a very good sized refrigerator for cold drinks and your own alcohol. The closets have a light that comes on when you open them and there are stylish his & her robes hanging inside. The housekeeping staff also leave you fresh fruit.

The bed? Heaven.

Well done hotel people!

Nirwana Hotel Resort, Bintan Islands: The perfect Getaway from Singapore

Nirwana Garden Resorts is basically a collection of five resorts, which are all located in the northern part of the island. All these resorts are located very close to each other and there is a regular shuttle bus service connecting them roughly at 30 mts interval.
Nirwana Hotel Resort
Banyu Biru Resort,
Mayang Sari Resort
Mana Mana Resort,
Indra Maya Resort.
Each of them provide different types of accomodation, varying from Deluxe Hotel rooms to fully furnished 2 bed room Hall sea facing duplexes with private pool, jaccuzzi and lot of other 5 star comforts.
At the Nirwana Hotel Resort, the reception was crowded with holiday goers, this being the super peak season of holidays. Deepawali and Hari Raya was falling in the same week and there could’nt have been a better time to go for holidays for Singapore residents. We arrived at the reception at 1300 hrs only to be told that the rooms are not ready till 1430 hrs (Check out time 1200 hrs, check in time 1500 hrs). We decided to have lunch at the poolside restaurant and comeback at 1430 hrs.
The lunch at the poolside restaurant was very good (a mix of Western, Chinese and Indonesian food) although the service was slightly slow on account of the heavy crowd. The atmosphere was very relaxing.
Eating options at Bintan Resorts are plentiful and there is a whole range of Asian food available. Each of the Resort has few restaurant within its premises and lemme tell you, they are more expensive then the local Singapore Restaurants of the same category. A more detailed account of food and beverages options is included in the ‘Restaurant’ section of the travel tips

Nirwana Hotel Resort has all the facilities that a hotel in its category can provide. They have tastefully decorated swimming pool, one for adults and one for kids, jaccuzzi, children club area, gaming area, Gymnasium, spa and a lot more to keep everybody occupied.
Nirwana resort has a fully equipped Kids Club Center at the clubhouse. They take in kids 4-8 years old and involve them in fish feeding, face painting, drawing and coloring, mask making, story telling, sand castle building. All this is enough for the kids to be busy for the day.

Internet connectivity is available at the business center at the Nirwana Hotel Resort.
