A Pleasant Surprise
Mayang Sari turned out to be much better than I'd heard - which was that it was a bit tired and run down. It was in fact a quiet, rustic looking beach resort with lovely clear, calm water lapping on the beach close by.
There are around 50 chalets - twin or double bedded and don't have interconnecting rooms (for those with children). They are, however, very big and there would easily be room for an extra bed or two.
The rooms were clean, tidy and with everything you need for your stay, even mosquito repellant (although the mozzies weren't too bad fortunately).
Breakfast was pretty good with a decent mix of different kinds of food to please most. It is served in their Spice restaurant which has a great view over the beach (and also does a lovely curry in the evening)
There's no pool at Mayang Sari, but you are welcome to use any of the Nirwana's other pools (or restaurants) and there's a free shuttle bus which can take you where you want to go.
To sum up, a very pleasant, relaxing place to stay.
Unique Quality: The chalets are in blocks of four - sea front have sea related names (Dolphin, Stingray etc) and the second row back have garden names (Ladybug, Dragonfly etc). Although seaview have a better view, the garden rooms still had a reasonable view (cheaper too). We stayed in Lobster 4 and Seahorse 1, both of which were in good locations.
Note to remember - I've heard that the disco at the cabanas up the beach is noisy on weekend nights, so that's something to bear in mind if you go over the weekend (we went mid-week and it wasn't happening then). It could be worth requesting the rooms at the far end of the beach, away from the cabanas (and maybe even taking some ear plugs).

Rustic Getaway
It was a short weekend getaway for us but it was definitely a fun one. Our room was smack right in front of the beach. What more could you ask for? Room is very neat and clean and so is the bathroom. In fact i read up a few comments from VT members stating that the bathroom looks old...actually it's not that old. For those who would like soak in the bath tub with some ambiance, maybe you guys can bring along with some scented candles and place them in the bathroom and wala!...u've got a spa moment to enjoy, right?....
Checking in is at 3pm (indonesia time) and we were obviously so very early but nevertheless while waiting for our room we had a mission....shopping mission which we head down to Pasar Oleh-oleh. There's a shuttle service to and fro from Nirwana Garden (where mayang sari is) at $3.
There are some who commented that they are quite frustrated for being early but not was unable to check-in early. I mean, seriously it's already stated checking-in will be at 3pm and if so they have the rooms ready early, I'm sure they'll give it to you but if not i think it's fair that you wait till 3pm...so what's the fuss here i don't understand....on overall everything is fine there....we had a great time and there wasn't any fuss at all.

Rustic chalets facing the sea
The service is very good as the staffs are always very friendly and polite. They allow us to check in earlier before the stipulated time too. Very basic facilities can be found here, including a TV, bathtub. Mua stayed at the Dolphin Chalet :)

Beautiful beachfront chalets
Mayang Sari Beach Resort is also a part of Nirwana Garden resort and offers 50 beachfront chalets with their own verandahs facing the sea or garden. The chalets have sloping roof just like a village house and the interiors of the chalets are done in a typical Indonesian style. The rooms offer all the normal facilities like attached bathroom with shower and bath tub, minibar, color TV with satellite channels, hair dryer, complimentary coffee and tea making facilities. The hotel also provides baby sitting facility.

A getaway chalet-styled resort near Singapore
A relaxing stay! I chose the rooms that are right by the beach, but do take note of the best times to go in my commentary below..
Unique Quality: Rooms are styled like chalet houses. It has a pretty spacious interior, and the ones lining up facing the beach cost more, but well worth it if you want waking up looking out to sea. The chalets have a porch each, and there are taps nearby to rinse sand off the feet before entering. There's water activities and I recommend a meal at the Kelong Restaurant (by minibus shuttle). Check out other facilities at the website. The food here at hotel is a must try if you havent tried Indonesian food. Weather is hot and waves are much calmer when I went in April. I highly NOT recommend the monsoon periods (~Oct to Jan) as waves are really rough, and there are no water activities held. The island's hotels' packages are available from singaporean tour agencies.

Beachfront chalets
Unique Quality: Mayang Sari Beach Resort feature individual single-storey beachfront chalets, lack of facilities (swimming pool, games room, etc.) making it a good place for those who love nature and quiet environment. The chalets and rooms are beautiful. Although you can use the hotel facilities eg. pool in Nirwana Garden hotel, free shuttle run every 30mins. There’s beach party every Sat night. They possess a very nice spa and Thai restaurant.

Tropical beach feelings not far from Singapore !
could be absolutely recommended , nice , clean and very 'stylish' comfortable bungalows situated in a very beautiful tropical garden with direct view to the beach !
Very friendly staff ! And very good restaurant !
Unique Quality: There is a really big pool in the next resort called 'Nirwana Garden' which belongs to the Mayang Sari (you can use the free shuttle service, takes 2 minutes only ).

Mayang Sari Resort
The resort share the concave beach with Mana Mana, another resort but it definitely has the better portion of the beach with fine, white sand. The chalets are built either facing the manicured garden or facing the ocean. I like the latter much better! Being a member of the Nirwana Group, you can catch a shuttle bus to Nirwana Gardens Resort for the facilities there, though the idea of smacking oneself into hordes of screaming kids does not appeal to me (as Nirwana Gardens Resort is more family-orientated) . A good spot to unwind, bake in the sun and enjoy some quiet time.
Unique Quality: The view. Nothing beats waking up to the sight of the ocean in front of you.

How to get from Tg Pinang Kolam Kelong Trikora to Mayang Sari Beach Resort
I want to go to both places from Singapore meaning one after another start from Sgp to the Kelong and then Mayang Sari Beach Resort and back to Sgp.
Can you help to advise details how I can do it and the price of the ferry and timing? Likely spend 2 nights in Kelong and then one night at Resort.
