There are 10 air-conditioned and 18 fan rooms (with attached bathroom) at the Kelong. We choose the air-con room but have to pay $5 more per person. The room has really very basic amenities and dun expect to find a flushing toilet system here... Rain water is collected at the tub and we use these water for bathing and washing... We learn that water is really precious over here :P You can also request for extra blanket if necessary.
Accommodation ranges from one to three-star lodgings. Some of the smaller hotels provide air-conditioning, attached bathrooms and television sets. Tanjung Pinang has many hotels both within town and as far as 12 kms along the road to Tanjung Uban.
I can't remember the name of the hotel I stayed in (possibly the Hotel Sadaap). It was on a hill overlooking the township and within walking distance. The hotel was one level and U shaped with a long outdoor pool in the centre. They had a lookout tower built on the roof of one of the buildings and the photo shows the view.
