Take your pick: Ample choice in Sarangan

Sarangan consists practically of hotels, villa's and restaurants only, so make your choice. Except with Lebaran and Xmas-New Year most are empty, no need to book. And do not let them draw you into the very first one you see.

Points to consider: (1) do you want to stay near the lake and the restaurants or higher up? (2) do you like a room with a fireplace -they will light it at your request after nightfall- ? (3) if they offer hot water, check if it really functions.
Prices may range from Rp 100,000 to Rp 200,000, except for the posh new establishment near the lake (photo).

Hotel Sarangan used to be a favourite among expats residing in Central Java, especially for families with kids. There are not so many expats around nowadays.
