It is a great cosy hotel to stay and warm people

This was the first hotel i stayed in Indonesia when i went there in October 2004. Later i went there many times. V reasonably priced and clean and cosy. Fab bfast. Pharoahs bar gets lively at nights. Pool is compact and if you are lucky make some nice friends as i did. I met a nice chinese girl there who was so kind to me - she was a devout christian- i lost all touch as the cell phone i had with her number was stolen. Never could locate her later.

Unique Quality: I liked best was the restaurant which was never too crowded. The hotel is bang on a main artery - Jalan kramatraya - the Busway halt is just across and you can go all over Jakarta v cheap. The rooms are really well maintained

Directions: take a prepaid cab from airport usually costs around 120,000 rupiah all tolls paid. Dont take private cabs but the prepaid registered ones which issue a coupon. You pay when you get down

Transport from the Airport

by slipknotz281

1. Is the Damri bus has 24 hrs service? will be arriving in Jakarta at 11pm and wud like to go to Rawamangun.

Re: Transport from the Airport

by explore_discover

You may have to wait until 4.00 AM to get the First Bus to Rawamangun, to my knowledge the last bus is scheduled at 10.00 PM Ticket Cost IDR20,000 pay at the Bus and obtain/retain the ticket the inspector will check it some where midway.

If you are arriving on air asia at CGK Low Cost Terminal (3) then you may have to go to Terminal 2

If you are traveling alone and have hotel/accommodation address and do not want to wait 4 hour at the airport then Only Take the metered Taxi from BLUE BIRD Counter, they are safe and reliable.

Travel Tips for Jakarta

Macet (Traffic jam) !!!

by Deng249

Anyone who has travelled to Jakarta, would have advised you about the traffic condition in Jakarta. Do allow yourself some time allowance when travelling there. Depending on the time of the day, you will find the traffic to be crawling.

If you're feeling a bit adventurous, go on the Busway. It'll get you to places faster than the taxi.

Menara Syahbandar

by black_mimi99

Menara Syahbandar / lookout tower was constructed in 1839 as part of fortress which later on found its utility as a defense tower and eventually it was used as a meteorological station. Menara Syahbandar in Jakarta falls into the category of a popular tourist destination which allures the visitors from all over the world for centuries.

Stand at the top of this tower and gaze over Kali Besar Bridge, Sunda Kelapa Harbor and Ciliwung River through the eyes of an eagle. The panoramic view gives visitors an idea of what it was like when guards watched over harbor activities during the Batavia era...

Presenting The Bride and Groom!

by lmkluque

There were more than a thousand people lined up to congratulate the bride and groom. Four Ministers of the Indonesian government attending this reception were at the head of the reception line and we were first in line behind the Ministers! (Which allowed us to eat and depart before a third of the guests got through the queue. At first I thought it was luck, later I realized that the lady I came with was greatly respected in this group.)

The music was traditional Javanese, big barrel drums, exceptionally slow rhythm, exotic and beautiful.

The food was awesome! A buffet that would dwarf those offered at the large hotels. There was a whole section of Western dishes, of which I only remember pizza and pasta, because I zeroed in on the traditional Indonesian food, Sates, Gado-gado, Nasi Goreng, Mee Goreng, Sambal Udong, curried ayam, rendang were just a few of my favorites! In my opinion, there is nothing more delicious than well made Indonesian food.

On a table in each of the four food sections was placed a beautiful ice sculpture, my favorite was of a swan readying for flight.

The family members of the wedding party all wore traditional National Costume of their Island—Java even the men wore sarongs made in shades of blue and white. Each family unit had their own distinct design.

Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM)

by latte18

For the art and culture lovers, definitely head to Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) in Central Jakarta. Undoubtedly the cultural center of Jakarta, TIM is home to the Jakarta Art Institute and houses both indoor and outdoor theaters, art galleries, and a Planetarium/Observatory.

Traditional and contemporary art performances are held here regularly at the Graha Bakti Budaya. Literature lovers might want to visit the HB Jassin Literature Center which has a complete collection of Indonesian literary publications and critics.

One of the best and LARGEST Mall in Indonesia

by rmiya84778 about Mall Taman Anggrek

This Mall is one of the largest in Jakarta. What is really nice about this mall is the location and stores inside.
There is an ice skating rink, cinema multiplex, a fitness centre, large Deptartment Stores, Matahari. Metro & Galleria, an appealing mix of speciality shops, Hip and expensive designer label stores, services, and eateries. Large food court with all cuisines of the world represented. AMERICAN style Fast food restaurant's located here include A&W, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Sizzler, Starbuck's, and Pizza Hut! The taste of food at some of these American Fast Food restaurants is better than US restaurants! Service at all stores outstanding. At the stores I went to, there are more sales people standing around then customers. I could spend all day at this mall. Some Indonesian people do, especially young people. (on weekends or holiday) So much to do here, shopping, meet people, entertainment, etc. What I like about the stores in this shopping mall is wide selection of men's dress and casual shirts. I always buy some when in Jakarta. Selection very good, pricing reasonable. You will see designer labels here that cost more than in USA. Some import goods here from USA cost way more than if I get in USA. Luggage goods, same situation yet you can find some real bargains. There seems to be lots of sales when ever IM in Jakarta visiting at this mall! Low cost to expensive.
