Jakarta Map
by dewigotama
Yes of course, if you can't find any in the airport go and buy to the nearest bookstore (Gramedia, Toko Gunung Agung, TGA Bookstore) most probably located in Malls, the nearest one would in Mega Mall Pluit.
The Map of course reliable but it's still hard to find any specific places like houses in Jakarta especially places located in the alley due to awful road signage and bad landmark. You should ask pedestrian around if you can't find the place that you're looking for.
I miss the Indonesian television...
by belgianchocolate
Really!
I'm always looking forward to put on the television... while I hardly look at it while I'm in Belgium.
WHY? Well Indonesian television is so colourfull and different. They know how to make fun , dance and sing....I love that.
In Europe the series hardly got windows in their house....
To comfort myself I bought at least 3 Bollywoodfilms for the sad and cheerless days.
SECLUSION!

Many homes have more than one garden. Several I saw had rooms built with a square in the center which served as a private garden. It was very peaceful in the midst of Jakarta, a city of more than 11 million people.
This is the window of one of the women's quarters. Orchids grow almost wildly here, and no glass on the windows!
PASAR IKAN - Watch-Tower
by RoyJava
The best time to visit Pasar Ikan (Fish Market) is around dawn when the day's catch is sold in an intense, colourful scene of busy crowds. Take a view at Pasar Ikan from the old Watch-Tower (Jl. Pakin), built in 1839. Mostly it is closed, so look for the chief-in-charge to get the key. The great view is spread out over Sunda Kelapa, Pasar Ikan (see pic) and the harbour region.
Get entertained at the new eX !
by latte18 about Plaza Indonesia eX - Entertainment X'nter
The new annex to the Plaza Indonesia was christened the Enterntainment X'nter or the eX. Apart from its corny name and its futuristic-looking building that is quite tacky IMHO, the eX offers dozens of small restaurants, trendy cafes and coffee shops including well-known staple brands such as Starbucks and Gloria Jean's.
The building also houses a handful of stores selling pricey teen ikea-look-a-like knick knacks that no one probably needs anyway, a music store, a bowling alley, a pool hall, a fitness center, a London-based hair salon, and what probably the most expensive movie theater in town. The eX will also become the new home for the Hard Rock Cafe Jakarta.
Although it is not yet fully operational (there are several stores that haven't been opened yet), throngs of people have crowded this place especially on weekends.
All in all, the new smallish mall is excellent if you want to hang out with your friends and go people-watching, since it's open until 2AM on weekends. However, the number and variety of the stores are a bit of a let down.
