Same day ticket purchase
It's my first trip to Indonesia. I will arrive from Bangkok @ 0930. Is it possible to purchase my onward ticket for Yogya at Garuda's desk upon arrival? Would I then transfer to the domestic terminal and wait, or better I transfer first and try to buy the ticket after I get to the domestic terminal?
Any info you have about getting between terminals is appreciated!

Hi,
Garuda's domestic terminal (terminal 2F) is not far from the international flight's terminal (terminal 2D and 2E), but you need to pass the immigration check first before you see the Garuda's ticket desk. Any other domestic flights (besides Garuda and Merpati) depart from terminal 1.
Should be OK to get the ticket at the same day as you arrive in the morning.

you may have other options by buying online ticket to jogja:
www.mandalaair.com or www.lionair.co.id
if you buy mandala ticket on friday-sunday, usually you can get a very good price i.e. from jakarta to jogja only for Rp300k nett
however, as quoted by prior poster, you need to go terminal 1 (A-C depends on the airline but you can get the info from airport officer)
there should be a free airport transfer shuttle bus but if you are in hurry dont think this is an option. Bus is yellow color and depart every 15-20 min. look for Shuttle Bus Sign Board.
beware of tourist scam by telling you no airport transfer bus and asking you to take their taxi.

much cars, "macet" the Jakarta usual traffic chaos so about 30 km/hour
and the weather is usually hot...
but than suddenly: here comes the sun...

The most enjoyable place to browse for collectibles and antiques is on Jalan Surabaya in Menteng. The entire street is lined with stores, small shops, and stalls offering all manner of collectibles: ceramics, colonial style home furnishings, masks, small statues, and other paraphernalia.
The rules here is are to bargain real hard and never assume that anything is a real antique. It might look old and authentique but it could have been made the day before. Bargaining is imperative, never be afraid to slash the price offered by the sellers by more than half. antiques
