Where to buy italian coffee maker in Jakarta?

by auroradelafuente

Where can I find an italian coffee maker in Jakarta?(also called "mocha style", the one that is two pieces and goes on the stovetop). I'm coming from a very remote place so would really like to take the opportunity to buy this while in Jakarta.

Try at carrefoure, they have large section of these kind of utencils.
If you coss the road from WTC and take the Busway or any Mini Bus (Otange/Red Color) going to KOTA station, there is carrefoure at Gajah Mada street right after crossing the MOSAN (National Monumnet)

You can also try buying Coffee Arabica, roasted or raw green beans (Culitivated at high elevations of Sumatra Island) from a market which is in Menteng right in front of Gondongdia Overhead Railway station.

I don't think Carrefour would have a sophisticated high quality of coffee maker. I think you should come to Debenhams in Senayan City or to Metro Dept. Store (in Senayan, Pondok Indah, or Taman Anggrek)

shopping...at Block M
batek crafts and others well..i went there to attend a close friends' wedding ceremony which was very much done in traditional ways of royal jawa style....(raden). It is very interesting and full of rituals and custom and so colourful. other than that we went to so many shopping malls and some sightseeing.

visit the 'Keong Mas', an imax movie theater shaped like a snail in 'Taman Mini'. The imax theater screens a film about Indonesia which takes audiences canoeing up rivers and climbing volcanoes without even leaving Jakarta or... your seats!

Packing List

by birumania

A mid-size backpack should be good to explore Jakarta.
You don't need to carry all your valuable amenities since, like other metropolitan cities, every 'western' living standard little stuff is pretty easy to get anywhere in Jakarta. Study Abroad Women, if you're used to tampons better bring extra just in case. It's not a very common thing in Indonesia. Not a Problem! Follow the standard rule and you'll be fine...
Sexy is fine, but vulgar is a turn-off.

Walk in old Batavia

by kokoryko

Walking on Jalan Kali Besar (Kali Besar means great channel) from Pasar Ikan towards Taman Fatahillah, you can have a look at old Batavia; there are the big VOC warehouses, some patrician mansions, and streets bordered by more modest houses with typical colonial architecture.
Walking along the Kali, south of the VOC Gulangan (second picture) building you can discover another VOC warehouse, U shaped with a big yard (first picture), with a restaurant on the north side (Raja Kuring restaurant). Very close is this strange staircase (picture 3), a bit like a boat mast; behind you see a typical roof of a Sundanese pavilion, like there are in the yards of the VOC warehouses areas.
Going further North, on Jalan Kali Besar, you also see houses and warehouses which look to be under renovation, but since long time, apparently (picture 4) and as a big contrast, when you arrive at the southern end of Jalan Kali Besar, you arrive at Jalan Bank, and as a contrast the palace of the National bank seems very well maintained! On the fifth picture is a view of the backyard of the bank.
North Jakarta, Jalan Kali Besar area.

Exploring Taman Anggrek Mall

by eduardoz about Mal Taman Anggrek

One of the biggest in South East Asia, a vibrant and alluring paradise brimming with endless shopping, dining, recreational and entertainment opportunities, located in west Jakarta closed to Tomang intersection.

If you come from the main lobby, a unique big revolving door is wating for you as the main entrance. There are more than 400 tenants and no less than 2 department stores: Galeria Matahari and Metro. Some pretty affordable shops but still good quality, obviously the choice is good and often bewildering. The upper floors are occupied by entertainment and food spots, including Olympic size ice skating rink, Cineplex Anggrek XXI, timezone, and Dapur Anggrek food court with various vendors.

Easy to get lost here, if you come for the first time and that's why there are over 17 spots of Plasma TV Kiosk e-Directory map showing places and shop with a handy buttons around the mall as a prevention. Very popular with Chinese youngsters and also excellent for families with an active kids club.

The mall is well managed and makes good use of space in the basement with regular family-oriented and promotional events. Blue Bird Taxi lines also ready to serve your trip out from the mall, if you don't come with your own vehicle.
