SECURITY!!!
by latte18
The key word for Jakarta during this period is "security". There are metal detectors EVERYWHERE! Cars are searched when entering carpark compound of malls. Hotels are not spared the stringent checks. Pedestrians are searched at the entrance to these buildings and have to walk through a metal detector. Armed guards overlook the procedures. Despite the dark undertones to the scene, I've never felt more secure with these checks and am sure glad the government is finally taking the terror threats seriously
How do you address locals respectfully
by Restless-in-kl
Indonesians are very polite people. Whenver you meet someone older than you or is higher in seniority level, you need to address the men as "Pak" and the women as "Bu" as a sign of respect. Even if you taking a cab or in a restaurant, address them accordingly.
Golfing in Bogor

Permata Sentul
The international standard course is rather hilly. The front nine predominantly plays down hill, while the back nine plays up hill. The green of hole 9 is situated some 100 meters above sea level. Hole 18 finishes some 244 meters above sea level. To give you an idea: the tee box of hole 1 is situated some 181 meter above sea level, while the green finishes at some 150 meters above sea level. The course is friendly and players of all skill levels have a choice out of 4 different tee box positions. Down hill play is always somewhat difficult when it comes to club selection and that's what make Permata Sentul's front nine challenging and tricky. Overconfident players who come to play this course for the first time should bare this in mind. If down hill play is tricky, up hill play is certainly not easy too. The back nine will prove this.

Flea market. Situated at Jalan Surabaya, Menteng, near Cikini. You can find many antiques stuffs. And my favorites here are anything about oldies songs (many CD's, cassettes here), decorated glass and old lamps (haunted :D).

by kenningst about Lokasari Plaza
This place is just a mini version of ITC Mangga Dua except that this place is also flooded with telecommunication shops/stores selling from mobile phones to new calling cards and reloads. Perfect place to strike a bargain if you are looking for some telecommunication goods.
