More about Hotel Aryaduta Jakarta

THE ARYADUTA.

by Sharrie

THE ARYADUTA (MANAGED BY HYATT INTERNATIONAL) in old Javanese means 'Ambassador': 331 rooms, 17 storeys. Located within easy walking distance from Monas & near many key government offices. This hotel is nearest to American Embassy. Stayed in this hotel while I was on a business trip working as private banker.
Many art objects & items of traditional handicrafts in the hotel.

The Farmer's Statue

by latte18

It's interesting that with so many monuments and statues depicting the spirit of nationalism in Jakarta, there's one that actually celebrates and provides a reminder to the dark, communist era.

The bronze Farmer's Statue was a gift from the goverment of the former Soviet Union in 1963, a time when the Communist Party has a significant presence and influence in the parliament. The statue simbolizes a farmer who faces forward to join the revolution while his wife bids him farewell.

The statue is located in front of the Hyatt Aryaduta Hotel in Central Jakarta, not far from the Gambir Central Station and the American Embassy.

2 nights in Jakarta

by Jetsetter1

Hi there

I am going to Bali in October for my honeymoon however we have a compulsory overnight in Jakarta so am maybe looking at extending it however I know nothing about Jakarta and don't know how safe it is.

Where would be the best place to stay 4 star close to shopping good food etc?

The Imperial Aryaduta - I stayed there for business 2 years ago. It's beautiful and right across the street from the mall, although you can't tell from inside the hotel. Once you're inside you feel like you;re in the lap of luxury.

I recommend the Novotel Mangga Dua where I stayed last Oct. 2008. A mall is right next to it plus another one across the street. Aside from the usual fastfood restos, there is a line of Chinese street food stalls in front of the hotel that operate every evening. Check it out at this link:

The hotel is also close to the expressway to the airport so you could avoid some of the horrendous traffic when it's time to fly off.

Sari Pan Pacific or Nikko Hotel at Thamrin street. It depends on your budget.
Across the hotel there is Mall called EX where you can find Hard rock cafe Jakarta. Besides, you can explore Jakarta by using Busway. Remember to avoid busy hour 07.00-10.00 AM and 18.00-21.00 PM. Visit Monas, Museum Fatahilah and if you prefer for wholesaler garment, you can do shopping in ITC Mangga Dua by using taxi.

One of the nicest stores in Jakarta is called PASARAYA www.pasaraya.co.id but it is not in a very central location but certainly worth finding.

One of the main streets for offices and hotels is called Thamrin and at one end is the long established Plaza Indonesia shopping and entertainment mall. Next door is the mighty Grand Hyatt but there are other hotels in this vicinity.

Hi!

I stayed in Jakarta's Sari Pacific hotel before and highly recommend it to you. Location wise, it is right on Jakarta's main thoroughfare Jalan MH Thamrin and within walking distance to Jalan Sabang - a so call food street of Jakarta. The Plaza Sarinah busway station is also nearby which will make it convenient for you to travel to most parts of the city apart from using taxi. Some of Jakarta's shopping malls (Plaza Sarinah, Plaza Indonesia, EX, Ratu Plaza, Plaza Senayan etc) is easily reachable from the hotel by taxi or busway.

Hi Jettsetter. You might want to take a quick read at www.itripindo.com . It has a quick write up of Jakarta. Very balanced and real. If you don't want to spend too much on your hotel layover, consider the Ibis Thamarin. Very central.
