Hi all,
I'll be visiting Jakarta for some workshops at Bentara Budaya Jakarta (in front of Kompas Daily).
Some people told me that it is at the South Jakarta while other said it's at West Jakarta???? Can someone please clarify for me?? Thanks..
I'll be staying at Hotel Pitagiri (organiser had booked it)..
I would like to know what are the interesting places or local delicacies that
I can find around my hotel area...
My workshops will be over at 5pm.. I was thinking of to hang out around as I have not been to Jakarta...

Hi friend, Yes, Bentara Budaya is in front of Kompas Daily and is located at the South Jakarta (near the border of West Jakarta). You can visit "Gelora Bung Karno" at nite time, to see one of the biggest football buildings among asian countries. OR, you can go to famous Malls called Senayan City or Plaza Senayan.

Pasar Senen located in central Jakarta, where the bus terminal is here, Atrium mall Senen is also here... and most of all, this place is famous with cheap books and second hand books.... so for book lover can search here...:) but... must becareful cos many pickpocket here also...:)

Next door there is also a cinema., and more restaurants and takeaways on the outside. Jakarta has everything and anything you want. We were there just as the post christmas sales were on & the lead up to Chinese New Year. We bought shoes for my daughter, bathers, a doll, jewellery for me. Our time was limited due to a 24hour stopover thank god so we didn't go too much over budget... exchange rate with Australia is good we were getting just under 7000Rp to the $AUD
this relatively new mall is not very big. inside, you can find mostly restaurant, there are also cinema, bookshop, supermarket, etc.
every wednesday, they have woman's market.
i love the building. but i always avoid to come on saturday nite because it's packed with teenager. mostly consist of restaurants, bookshop, supermarket, cinema, and department store.
