intrigued when I see at markets and stalls. Durian (Durio zibethinus) are native to South East Asia and require a year round, warm, very humid,
climate. This fruit is covered with hard spines
and exudes a strong, but not sour smell
when opened. To open a durian you need sharp, stout knife. Durians have about five segments when cut open with each containing several seeds. These seeds are surrounded by a custard-like aril. The taste differs depending on when picked. It is pungent, sour taste that was very strange when I tried. Yucky to me. Must be very popular in Indonesia for just about everywhere you go you see them for sale.
Durian are rare outside South East Asia, and they are probably expensive when available? I have never seen Durian before so I got to experiance
new fruit. I dont like taste!
