Escape from Kampung Rambutan to Mal Taman Anggrek!

by KCinIndo

Help! I will be traveling to Jakarta by bus to Kampung Rambutan terminal, but not sure how to go from there to Mal Taman Anggrek in West Jakarta. Blue Bird taxi says it won't do pick up at public places (why not???) so I need to find another safe and reasonable way to get there....any suggestions?

No need to worry, Blue Bird Taxi's are plenty and easy to flag them down any where and anytime of the day or night. Kapuk Rambutan is busy terminal there are many taxi coining in and out all the time.

They dont pick up passangers from public place because there is no guarentee the person who orderd the taxi will be waiting when the Taxi reach there.

Tell them to pick you up at a near by hotel and wait in the lobby.

As previous reply, dont worry about the Blue Bird Taxi. You can find easily. Many blue taxi, but some of them are not Blue Bird. You can see from the big sticker and from door of taxi.

The cheapest and safe way if you dont feel rush is using Busway. Take bus from Kampung Rambutan to Kampung Melayu. From Kampung Melayu, you take the route to Matraman. In Matraman, you will find the interchange. You move from the bus, and choose the route to Dukuh Atas. From Dukuh Atas, there is another interchange. You choose the route to Harmoni. From Harmoni, choose the route to Lebak Bulus but you hv to stop at Grogol 2 station. Get off from this station and then u can take ojek or taxi from here. It is very near.
Using Busway looks headache but actually it is very easy. For those routes, you only pay 3500 Rupiah.
Please find this link for the busway route http://www.rutebusway.com/

Thank you everyone for your help! Will take these suggestions with me for my trip. Feeling berani, so I just might try the busway/taxi combo option!

Travel Tips for Jakarta

The Beer Hunt continues....in Jakarta!!!

by Cabana_Boy

Wherever you go, whatever you do, sampling the local beer is definite must.

What do the locals drink, what beer is most popular, which beer is hardest to find, does it come in a half pint glass just like grandma used to drink…or better still, a full pint glass like I drink??? These are all good questions that need to be answered...

Indonesia seemed to be a bit short on a diversified beer selection, I guess that’s is for obvious reasons or perhaps I wasn’t there long enough to seek out more beers. Most widely available beer was Bintang and it was one for laying down and avoiding…that’s to say it was quite strong, went down smooth and had a fairly balanced taste, but resulted in a bumpy ride the following morning…

national monument

The national monument, built in the middle of the new Jakarta city, deserves a visit for at least 2 reasons, the great view you can have from the top and because I guess the area around the monument is the only one in Jakarta!

Packing List

Indonesia uses 220 Volt electricity and the electrical outlet has two pin holes. The voltage in many places is unstable. If you are using a computer notebook (I brought my Apple ibook ) you may also have to get a voltage converter.
Best to bring along a converter for trying to buy locally in Indonesia may be difficult. My AC electrical power pack that came with my computer has the features in it already so this was not a problem. I still had to get pin connector from my fiance so I could connect properly.Due to my many travels to Asian countries, I carry a variety of different pin connector adapters.

Hhhmm...This might be for...

by dianinparis

Hhhmm...This might be for women only,,,or men can do also. Go and pamper yourself at the beauty salon, have body or foot massage. Have a cream bath. One thing Jakarta/Indonesia, beauty parlour is very cheap, treat yourself like a queen or king for a day.

Try: LU VAZE(Plaza Senayan) ,BALE-BALE(Pangeran Antasari) or many more in Jakarta
